The human race has polluted the Earth with Nuclear waste, the seas have risen and as I result land masses are now a series of islands (Archipelagos). Many attempts were made to clean up the pollution but they failed and now it's up to you.
Earth is dying and other worlds need to be colonised. It's your job to clear those worlds of hostile aliens.
