A Tale in the Desert (ATITD) is developed and published by Pittsburgh based indie developer eGenesis. ATITD is a unique massively multiplayer online roleplaying game (MMORPG). It takes place in ancient Egypt and can be distinguished from the other MMORPGs by not having the traditional combat. Game focuses on crafting, trading and general economic and social development. Most unique perhaps is the game's political system, which allows players to vote on laws that will be hardcoded into the game.

ATITD client is available for all three major computer platforms(Windows, Linux and Mac). A demo is available and allows the user to play for 24 hours for free. A monthly fee of 13.95 will be charged for any time after the first 24 hours.

The first version of ATITD was released in 2003 and this is known as Tale 1. The latest generation known as Tale 6 went live in Fall of 2011.
