Overview
Acro Storm is a racing game published and developed by Blue Comet Games for the PC.
Plot
The game is set in the far future where the most common racing craft are 'airbikes' - hovering, superfast motorcycles. The ACRO (Airbike Competetive Racing Organization) is the biggest supporter of the sport, and annually hosts the PAR GP (Pro Airbike Racing Grand Prix). The grand prix is the pinnacle of the sport, and attracts billions of viewers galaxy wide. The 32nd PAR Grand Prix is upcoming, and as usual there are a number of racers, each wanting to claim the prize of Grand Champion either for glory, fame, money, or personal reasons.
Gameplay
The game is a high speed racer similar to the Extreme G and WipEout franchises. It heavily focuses on vehicular combat. Every bike has a variety of statistics and classes - Sport, Pocket, and Cruiser - which all place emphasis on different stats. Characters have their own stats as well, which can further modify the capabilities of the vehicle, placing an emphasis on selecting a rider and bike combination that complements both each other and the player's racing style. This, combined with the manual weapon pickup and selection, as well as the spin deflection mechanic, requires players to be have both tactical acumen and twitch reflexes.
Races take place in a host of different environments, such as ancient jungle ruins, dry desert science stations, and arctic bases. Some of these locations have hazards that may make traversing the course more difficult, such as mining lasers crossing the track, or poor visibility in some areas.
