The genetic dynamo that allows people to totally recreate themselves, ADAM is at the centre of more or less everything that goes on during the original two BioShock games.
Actually we spoke about this before I created it a couple of months back. ADAM is definitely a concept, since while it IS a currency, it's also technically intangible. In BioShock you never pick up handy ADAM flasks, you never find it lying around in convenient locations or hidden under rocks. The only way you attain it is by saving or killing little sisters, or by picking up those teddy bear presents. The Teddy Bear present itself would be an object, but not ADAM itself.
Rupees, Coins, etc would be objects, however, because they're tangible objects you must actively collect.
So, wait... i'm confused... are objects only supposed to be something we can touch in a game? Or would Birds be an object for Unreal, even though they're just in the scenery?
Would doves be an object page for John Woo's Stranglehold?
What about a Ceiling Fan page?
you never touch Ceiling Fans in games, but they're always there... and they're always objects...
btw, i'm not trying to argue about ADAM anymore... I agree that it is a concept now, because I don't ever remember even seeing it in the game.
After some thought, and seeing that there's now some new posts in this topic... I actually kind of do think ADAM is a concept...
I also think electricity is a concept for your information...
an Object is very specific. it either has to be a collectable, for instance, a rubber chicken with a pulley... or it has to be something in the world, for instance, a tree...
some things could be either, and I definitely think some things should have multiple pages for instance, a plane could be an object, if it's seen flying, or you get to fly it... but it could also be a location, for instance if you go inside of it, like in perfect dark.
