    Alpha Squad: A good shooter

This review reflects the most recent version of Alpha Squad

As an Indie game, Alpha Squad looks bloody amazing.  The art, shaders, and effects that went into it really show, giving it a nice presentation.    In terms of gameplay, it is a good twin-stick shooter.  Movement and shooting feels good, and also the world allows some interaction, checking items and environments for story details.  It allows for 4 player local and online multiplayer, giving some great options to play with your friends.  Standard drops of money and weapons is always welcome, providing a good bit of competition among friends to try and pick everything up before they do.

There are a few moments of  difficulty where the screen scrolls to a new area and your are suddenly surrounded by enemies, hitting you before you can really react.  The story seems pretty corny and at times really over the top, and its kind of odd where other characters that are nowhere near you start talking as if they are in the same room.  There also were times where we couldn't read parts of the text in the game; they were cut off by the edges of our TV.   Now I will admit that we have an older HDTV, but you would never expect that you would have a hard time trying to read game text on the screen these days.

The creators of Alpha Squad really brought a solid product to the market and is definitely a game that people should check out.

    Hi Lazyartistry,

I am the developer of Alpha Squad and I would like to address a couple of your concerns:

    1. The online play does have a sporadic bug that will kick a host user from the game. This issue will be resolved next week when we can submit a patch to Microsoft. This bug was not found during our testing, but since the game is out in the wild, with thousands of Xbox Live users, we are just now finding out about it. What is recommended is if you are playing a Story Mode campaign, set your online options to "Private" if you want to avoid this. Local multiplayer is not affected.

    2.  The player spawn issue is another last minute bug before release. When you are developing software, your last minute fix might also cause a last minute bug, which is the case here, but we already have a fix in for the patch next week.

We are also gathering all the player feedback and combining it on our official forums for suggestions in a future update. We want to make this game as good as possible!
