Anivia, the Cryophoenix

Overview

An immortal elemental made of pure ice, Anivia flies the fields in League of Legends freezing those that cross her path. Being a creature of great power, Anivia is capable of creating walls of ice to block a path, or creating ice so cold is shatters and damages all those around it. Alternate skins for Anivia include a "Team Spirit" skin colored red, white, and blue, and an eagle skin.

Back Story

Although a phoenix is typically a being born of fire, Anivia was born of the coldest of winters. On her home world, Anivia soared the great frozen reaches protecting any who were strong enough to survive in the harsh climate. When Anivia felt an imbalance of power due to a lack of powerful elementals, Anivia traveled to League to combat injustice.

Stats

Anivia costs 3150 Influence Points or 975 Riot Points and was added to the game on July 10, 2009.

Abilities

Passive: Upon death, Anivia reverts into a frozen egg. If this egg survives for 6 seconds, Anivia will be reborn. This ability can only be activated ever 4 minutes.

Active Ability (Q): Anivia flaps her wings, shooting out a piercing lance of ice in front of her. Any units struck by the lance as it flies through them or caught in the final explosion will take damage and have their movement speed reduced. The lance can be detonated as it flies, stunning and damaging those around it when it explodes.

Active Ability (W): Anivia freezes the very air in front of her, creating an impassable wall of ice. The wall will block all that try to pass it for 5 seconds, upon which time the ice melts.

Active Ability (E): Anivia blasts her target with ice, dealing magic damage to them. If the target has been chilled by one of Aniva's other abilities, they will take double damage from Frostbite.

Toggle (R): When active, Anivia rains down ice and hail on surrounding enemies, causing magic damage and slowing their movement and attack speed.

Trivia

• If given the dance command, Anivia will do the chicken dance.
• Anivia's name is based on Latin, roughly translating to "Snow White."
• Anivia's title is "Cyrophoenix" due to the fact that "Cyro" means "Cold" in Greek. Also, a phoenix is a mythical bird which reincarnates itself, much like Anivia does with her passive ability.
