Physics based fun (yes it can happen)
Armadillo Run is a physics based building game where the object of each level is to get the Armadillo from a starting point to a designated end point. This is done by using various pieces of equipment such as rope, steel plates, bungie cord, rockets etc to build structures to complete this task. Each item has an associated cost and the player is only given a certain amount of money in each level. You place your opbjects in the level and then when you are ready you hit the start button. At this point time starts and everything that you have placed starts.
The game relies heavily on physics as gravity, tensile strength, and force are all used in the solutions of the levels. However it is not daunting for a person to get the hang of it as the physics are based upon real life. For instance if you hook a rocket on to a rope the rocket will drag the rope behind it. If you drop too many things on a steel plate it might break. Metal items are strong but they don't have much give.
There isn't a score but you are ranked by how much of your budget is left over when you have completed the task. The levels have a good difficulty progression that teaches you the ins and outs of each material as the difficulty is ramped up.
If you get tired of the trying to beat the games levels you also have the ability to make your own. There are dozens of levels available for download as well as solutions. Also there are spectator levels that are actually complete but are designed to show off what the physics in the game can do.
The graphics are minimal but they are done in a way that leads you to focus on the objective and not the lack of eyecandy.
It was an excellent purchase and I recommend it.
