Blizzard Isn't Ruling Out StarCraft II Feature Requests

The Blizzard media men are listening to fans.

There's little use in arguing against the idea that Blizzard wants to put out the best possible game it can. The dozen years between StarCraft II and its predecessor is proof enough. But as most of the SC2 flock are aware, what little was left out might be added in at some point in the future. Blizzard staffers on the game's official message board aren't ruling out much (via Big Download) when it comes to requests and fixing stuff based on concerns.

Take, for example, this post by social man "Zaryhm" in response to a user asking for more challenge missions. "New challenge missions are certainly a good possibility for future content updates or expansions," Zarhym wrote.

Or this post, a response to a user who wants shared replays. "This is a functionality we're interested in providing our players at some point in the future," other social media person "Lylirra" wrote.

Glad my mother finally found work. It's hard to when, you know, you don't have legs.
Glad my mother finally found work. It's hard to when, you know, you don't have legs.

== TEASER ==Or this post that expresses that Blizzard plans to allow Oceanic users to pick which region they want to compete within. Two licenses, one person, but no cross-chat.

"We have plans to allow for Oceanic players to choose which region they want to play in. This is something coming in the future," Zarhym wrote. "You'll have two separate licenses and can choose between North America and Southeast Asia."

Or, lastly, this post, written in response to a user's question about the map creation's limit shackles. "No current plans, but we're aware that there are concerns regarding the current limits for publishing and sharing player-made maps. The feedback we've received so far is good, and we're keeping a very close eye on how the system is being used. This in turn will help us determine how best to accommodate our players and the mapmaking community-at-large."

Decent requests are met with an open-mind, and as you'll notice in some cases, boilerplate maybes. Blizzard might be the type of studio that might take a billion years to push out a game, but it's a studio that listens to its fans and tends to do them right by adding what they want, though, I'm not so sure its keen on this feature request. Regardless, if you want a glimpse into what may be added into future updates or patches, these are it.

I think Lan support would get far more of a good response.

I'd be impressed if they really added new features after launch.  I thought Stardock was the only company that did that.

This truly is going towards that idea of the golden age of gaming. Devs listen to gamers, make games based on fan response. The people rejoice.

If anyone is curious why Blizzard's games are so successful, I think this story shows why.

If wow is any indication, I would guess that Blizzard will be adding new content as time passes.

Short of adding LAN support back in, something I wouldn't mind them doing is the ability to add audio commentaries to replays, and to record replays of campaign levels. Yes, this could add the potential for spoilers, but it also gives a couple nice perks.

1) It makes doing an "Let's Play" for Starcraft II easier, sort of.
2) It lets you, and other people, use Starcraft II replays as a teaching tool. That way, rather than just showing someone doing one thing and hoping the player picks up on the reason, a player could explain why they did it, and whether they felt it worked as well as they thought it would.

The only request I would have is to release the second and third campaigns faster than their usual timetable since I don't generally care about the multiplayer.

The challenges are pretty awesome, but I was surprised that there were so few. I would love to see more of them.

Maybe they could incorporate that draw feature.  It seems like it happens enough.

I'm a little confused as to why they're considering giving EU players two separate BNet codes rather than just making BNet work across regions...

I believe that if they impliment certain key features it could certainly create a marked effect within the game. if that makes sense.

I know I am probably in the minority, but I will miss the LAN feature. Just the option would be nice without having to go through Battle.net when I want to play multi player with a sibling or friend who is in the same room as me.

I would love if they put in some sort of functional LAN support. I understand the reasons for not including it, but I would like it.

Good to hear they're close to the community. So many developers and publishers nowadays just release a game and not add the additional features their consumers are asking for. Even if its only patches to fix bugs

While most of Blizzard's responses aren't actually promising anything, it's nice to see them actually respond to their users. I'm a member of Namco's official US "Tales of..." forum. I haven't seen any employee of the company post a message on there in a few good years, and apparently questions fans try to email them are answered with an automated message. It's kind of sad, really. ):

I'd really like to see LAN play whenever they start rolling this out. Maybe once they sell a copy to everyone in both Koreas.
