Bungie Details Destiny's First Expansion

Im good I think.

This doesn't seem like nearly enough content. I think I'll trade in destiny now and maybe pick it up again when they pack in all the DLC with the game for the Most Disappointing Game of the Year Edition.

I bought the season pass, I'll play this... but no, it doesn't sound worth $19.99. Not even close.

$19.99 is a bit steep for only 3 missions, 2 strikes and a Raid. And only increasing the cap to 32? That means the only good new gear will come from the Raid.

I'm inexplicably addicted to Destiny and I've been playing nearly every day. I know deep down I'll end up buying this, but dammit I won't be happy about it. I feel like I'm in an abusive relationship with this game.

Really...? $10 seems much more appropriate. And $15 even feels like it's pushing it. (That's how much Call of Duty map packs cost right?)

And even if it WAS $10, I'm still kind of annoyed how that doesn't seem like a lot of new content.

EDIT: Also, is it just the SAME areas again? Are they going to have new enemies? A new location? Or am I just running to the hellmouth AGAIN? Jesus.

Can someone please explain why raising the cap from 30-32 is important?

I feel as though I totally got my value for money with the core game. I realise not everyone will feel that way - as Jeff said, it's a personal call on something like that - but I have enjoyed all my (rather extensive) time with the game.

That said, I'm not convinced about the amount of content that this pack will add. I don't think 2 levels is really enough - I expect you'll be able to get up to 30 with gear from the DLC strikes if you haven't done so already and the extra two levels will come from the new raid. I was expecting something closer to 5 levels but I guess they don't want to ratchet it up too quickly?

Story-wise I'm interested to learn more about Crota, who does come up several times in the main campaign - remember that one unique mission in the game (with the sword)? Yeah that sword was Crota's. Anyway, the odd thing is that it certainly sounds like a side-aspect, whereas I was kinda hoping the DLC would begin the continuation of the core story path. But I suppose that's Destiny 2 material, right?

I'm not sold on this for now, and I say that as someone who's put well over 100 hours into the main game and thoroughly enjoyed it. But I will definitely see what the reaction from the community is like once it has been out for a little bit, and whether many of my friends are interested in diving into it, and make a decision then.

The new raid's hard mode will feature level 32 baddies. At level 30 you'll do approximately 40% less damage to them and take 40% more.

I'm not playing Destiny, but this sounds like a shit deal for people that are.

Why oh why did I pre-order the game + expansions... stupid, stupid, stupid.

As far as the level cap increase goes, I could not give a good goddamn. I stopped the grind at level 26 and don't plan on doing more, whether there is more content or not.

I wonder if the extra content is tuned more to level 30 players or if it is accessible for all. I will either play the missions with my lvl 26 Titan, or not at all.

I saw what was in this and immediately thought "that's it?" Then saw the price and just had to laugh. That would maybe be worth $10, 15 at a stretch. More than anything though it doesn't seem like enough content to keep people interested.

No gear? That seems to me to be the big thing I would want other than more content, which i guess is just a different form of content....

It seems right now Bungie are in some strange echo chamber about this game they made or their following, only paying the most attention to the most dedicated.... eventually that will bite them. I understand if the plan is too far in motion and their time is what it is but.... it all just seems like there could be a lot more of Destiny. I am not sure exactly why there isn't more, no one seems entirely sure why there isn't more... and with their size and resources this pack continues on with this strange narrative of we don't get why there isn't more.

It's directly converted to £19.99 in the UK, which is about $32. Let that sink in for a bit.

I was actually considering getting the DLC since I've enjoyed the game, but instead I'm just gonna put it on the shelf and forget about it.

At this point, I'm more eager to wait until Destiny 2. Going through 3 new maps (I doubt I'll ever touch the raid) for 20 bucks is a terrible proposition, especially when I'm already sick of playing this game.

I wont be getting this. I think I'm done with the game now. I haven't played in a while and while I was open to buying the DLC, the cost for what you're getting doesn't seem worth it.

I feel like buying the Digital Guardians edition ahead of launch is perhaps the worst mistake I've made of my 20 years of life.

I still can't believe Bungie dropped the ball this hard.

Considering the hurdles you have to jump to even get to 30, raising the level cap probably won't matter to a large percent of the audience.

Crota is actually an ancient bad guy in the Destiny lore (and thanks to how piss poor the story is in Destiny, i only know that, because of the mission in which you got to use the SWORD of Crota :P)

yea im still down to shoot more shit, but between now and the end of next month, games have started flowing back in,

so i also might just wait till the next expansion is out and then play them both at once, so that there's something actually significant to dive into.

that game is such a damm mess and a disappointment, but at the same time i didnt hate my time with it.

Remember how RDR: Undead Nightmare was 10 dollars? And the big GTA 4 expansions were 15? This is fucking ridiculous.

If I hadn't been misled into buying the digital edition with the expansion already there is no way in hell I would spend $20 on that.

Ugh, I feel so cheated for getting the version that included the season pass. It's all my fault too. I guess I will play through the tiny amount of story content added then put the game down again till the next xpack arrives. Why did this game have to be so mediocre.

As an avid Destiny player, I'm not terribly happy with this. As a player on Xbox One I'm especially disappointed since apparently that platform will fall farther and farther behind the PS with every expansion that is released. That doesn't encourage people like me to buy your game on PS... it just encourages me to stop playing it and go find something else to play that isn't gimped.

I was getting tired of Destiny by the end of the alpha, was sick to death of it by the end of the beta, and everything people have said about it since release have made me so very glad I never bought into it.

I think Bungie needs to stop thinking about their ten-year plan and recouping their investment and start worrying about the short term. Killing off their player base before they make it to year two is a real possibility.

A lacking main game and a $20 glorified map pack that does little to alleviate the problem. Ugh. Something at this level of minimal content should honestly be free. At this rate next year you'll have paid $100+ for a game that still doesn't have nearly as much content or variety as a standard shooter or MMO.

So you can't just destroy ALL the content immediately when the new raid comes out. I mean, you can probably get through the raid normal mode with a team of lvl 28-29-30 people but you won't ever get through hard mode without everyone being lvl 31 or 32.

Yes. You can probably do the normal mode raid (28) with 28+, but 32 will probably require 31+. Which means more grinding for raid gear, and the old raid gear you had is almost worthless. Yaaaaaaaay. /sarcam

@morose: That was the life of PS players last generation. Exclusive content is a weird deal. If you're on the fence and you legitimately don't care either way, then obviously you go where the extra content is. Everyone else, well, they just get pissed off.

Nope! Not worth it in the least, I am already sick to death of the game and just adding a few more missions for me to play a couple dozen times like everything else is definitely not enough.
