Dawn of War II: Retribution Announced, Features More Factions

Stand-alone title to feature a multiple-race campaign, new units, and a new multiplayer race.

A second stand-alone expansion for Relic Entertainment's RTS Dawn of War II is slated to hit in the first quarter of 2011, THQ has revealed this morning in a press release.

Retribution, as it's called, takes place after the events in Chaos Rising and will feature a multiple-race campaign, a first for the Dawn of War series. Not much has been revealed in the either narrative or online realm, but THQ did make it known that the first race you'll be able to experience in Retribution will be the Orks. As for the multiplayer, all that's being promised at this time are new maps, units, and a new race when the game ships.

In a statement, Relic's Jeff Lydell said that Relic loves the Blood Ravens, but admitted that fans wanted more races and armies to pick from, so Relic is "[allowing] the player the freedom to experience the campaign from the perspective they select."

You can handle two RTS titles at the same time, right StarCraft II fans?

Inquisition led Imperial Guard? I wouldn't doubt it after the whole Chaos shenanigans from the first expansion.

So here's all my money Relic...just go ahead and take all of it.

Brad you might want to get your facts straight, Dawn of War Dark Crusade and Dawn of War Soulstorm both featured campaigns with multiple playable races.

Now let's get some things straight, first of all the "ork pirates" are, in fact, Freebootaz, an Ork faction that is considered as a bunch of outcast pillagers and looters (basically mercenaries, they will do anything to get their hands on some shiny bitz :)). Second, the Inquisitorial I most likely signifies that the new race will be the Inquisition in general (yes yes why wouldn't we have all three Ordos (Daemonhunters, Witch Hunters and Ordo Xenos)) as we HAD all three Chaos factions (excluding Slaanesh) in one race selection. And to those wishing for Tau/ IG/Necrons/ DE -> tough luck, but wouldn't it be better to be playing a Inquisitor/Confessor/Cannones (three heroe types) purging fanatically everything with cleansing flames in the name of the Emperor while blessed choruses and heavenly thrumpets play in the background? Sheer awesomeness... The campaign, if done like non-linear & story driven for every race, will be magnificent!

" Huh. Seems like we might be getting Ordos Hereticus.  Makes the most sense, considering the ending of DoW2 "
I wouldn't mind having some sick Grey Knights.

Am I the only person that wishes THQ  would get back to the old style of Dawn Of War?

Since the game is about the Orcs, I might actually believe that the Imperial Guard will make it's stand in this expansion. But on the other hand, allot of the stuff that @Thuzar said: ...

... makes sense. So I'd guess IG or Witch Hunters.

I don't think the game is really about the Orcs. It's a multi-race campaign and they just chose to reveal the orcs first.
