Fallout 3's Point Lookout Out Today. Does It Work?

Any day-one issues popping up for you guys with Bethesda's latest DLC, per the last three releases?

Bethesda's done a great job producing regularly scheduled downloadable (some might call it episodic) content for Fallout 3 this year. It's done a somewhat less great job of posting that content in a functional state, though, with things like corrupted files and DRM-related installation issues preventing a lot of people from actually playing packs like The Pitt and Broken Steel until a few days after launch.

Today the fourth DLC, Point Lookout, is officially out there, and it looks like the most substantive release yet, with a new overworld map somewhere around a fifth the size of the landscape in the original game. But I can't help wondering: Does it work? Have you been able to download and play this add-on without incident? Is the fourth time the charm for Bethesda?

I'd be curious to hear what issues you've run into with Point Lookout, if any--or simply what you think of the DLC and what it adds to the game, if not. Post 'em!

I was really excited about this one after seeing the preview trailer. So far, I love it and I haven't yet spent any real time on the main quest(s). I don't really even know what they are. There's plenty of combat, but it seems less combat-focused so far, unlike Operation Anchorage or Broken Steel, which I like. Swimming around and searching shipwrecks and little islands reminds me of Oblivion. It's more enjoyable than The Pitt, which had a large area to explore with very little of interest in it. I'm enjoying the little mysteries and secret areas I've found so far - the discovery aspect of Fallout is what I've always enjoyed most.

This is much more of what I want from Fallout DLC - more writing, more story and a less linear experience. It also gives me a lot of hope about future DLC - that we don't necessarily have to see JUST desolate environments or virtual reality simulations. I like the creepiness factor, too. As far as I'm concerned, they could release Cthuhlu-inspired scenarios every two weeks and I'd be happy... Didn't Bethesda publish Dark Corners of The Earth? I wouldn't mind that game recreated in the Fallout engine, because the combat in that game SUCKED.

I did have one crash on 360, but it's not any different than the occasional crash I've had before. The frame rate can be an issue - the textures look less detailed, which I'm guessing was a concession to get a playable rate. It looks fine, though. I think it's the best DLC so far.

"I actually had my game freeze up during the Bog mission.  As soon as I woke up in front of the tree thing and started to move my game froze up.  It did this even after I loaded a previous save.  Deciding I wasn't gonna let this happen to me I went to the dashboard, cleared my cache and rebooted the game.  It started to lag a little when I walked away from the tree but after that little hang up I made it all the way out and to the church. So far I'm having a great time.  Definitely worth the 10 bones."
I've been having the same problem. I had to go through the entire bog all over again, only to have the fucking thing freeze up AGAIN.

I think this is the best DLC so far, however, I have suffered frame rate issues, voice syncing issues and my game froze a couple of times (even when not in Point Lookout) which has never happened to me in Fallout before so it may in fact be DLC related, but not even close to being a deal breaker. The content is awesome it is very open and free form game play, with varied quests and a great redneck vibe going on. And the hallucination scene is amazing!

Just a note though Point Lookout is hard, not saying this is a bad thing just a word of waring. But don't let it ruin the game for you Bethesda programed 5 levels of difficulty for a reason.
(I had to bump it down from very hard to hard but even my 3 year old can play it on very easy)
