Infamous 2 will be in stores this summer. Sucker Punch hit the PlayStation blog this morning and announced that the superhero follow-up will be available on June 7, 2011 in North America. The studio also confirmed the existence of the "Hero" collector's edition, which previously popped up on Amazon a bit before marketing folks wanted it to.
Let’s talk about that Hero bundle for a second. For a staggering 99 dollars, you’ll be able to obtain the following: a cute sling pack modeled after the one Cole wears, an 8.5-inch statue of Cole that you can put into said bag, a DC mini-comic, a copy of the game, and a “Super" downloadable voucher that features...

== TEASER ==Each of those “Super Voucher” items are also being offered as pre-order bonuses for the standard version of the game. Amazon scored the Gold Amp, Best Buy secured the Kessler Skin, GameStop has the Lightning Hook, and Wal-Mart will carry a voucher for the Electrocution Grenade.

Honestly, I’m still stuck on the 99-dollar price point of the Hero collection--that’s a lot of extra dough to drop on a game that comes with a fancy man purse. Any of you thinking about biting, or is that a little too out of your price range, too?

I'll be preordering this soon as it becomes available on PLAY.com. Loved the original, I know I'll love the sequel so the extra cash is worth putting towards for me <3
I didn't buy the original but I enjoyed it. This may interest me enough to get it and it's good see that the summer drought of games may not be so bad.
How about they launch the game with no weapons and I get the privilege of buying each one in the DLC packs they release?
So either they make these weapons totally unnecessary to play the game, like the blades in the last game, and piss off everyone that pre-ordered and bought the collector's edition, or you make them awesome, thus pissing off all the people that were unable to or didn't know about it. Good job Sucker Punch!
I could use a new fancy man purse so this is totally worth it in my case. I loved inFamous so I have no problems giving Sucker Punch my money. People who are thinking this game is gonna suck are closed minded. Not saying it won't but they should give it a chance first.
And on the note of the powers, they probably will be something that just enhances the regular play but aren't completely necessary. In fact they're powers that Sucker Punch was going to put into the final game but changed their mind because they thought they were superfluous. I believe in Sucker Punch.
Considering the huge number of games I'm interested in purchasing this year, it would probably be better for me to stay away from collector's editions.
Like all CEs I'll pass. Actually in light of the extra powers thing (depending on the regular edition power set) I might pass on the game altogether until it drops in price.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the game will be great and I'm sure those powers are unnecessary but I feel like I'm already paying enough for the 80 dollar regular edition that I should get all the powers they have to offer.
So basically I have to spend $100 to get the content that SHOULD have come with the $60 edition of the game? Wow Sony, I really loved inFamous and all, but you're really fucking pushing me here.
I don't trust that the fancy man purse is going to be durable enough to last for very long. I might preorder through amazon if they give me free money. I fucking hate in game preorder bonuses.

@RsistncE: Dunno what their plans are for releasing that stuff on PSN later, but I remember the pre-order bonus power in the first game being free for anyone to grab off PSN a while later. Cause I can live without the soundtrack, skin and the gold amp...But missing out on 2 powers does sound kinda like taking away features for no good reason.
Gonna look into the soundtrack of the original inFamous. At the moment, it's not especially memorable, but soundtracks are absolutely my favorite pack-in, so I'd love to check in and see if the last game had a good one.
Of all the games being released in 2011, though, the high-quality art book seemed like a lock for inFamous 2. A major bummer that it's not present.
the issue isn't the price, the issue is them locking out features of the game to anyone who doesn't buy the ultimate super edition. I for one will not buy a game for 100$, i also will not buy a subpar regular edition, so i am not getting infamous 2 at all.
