Kiefer Sutherland Is Now Snake

This is great news. I was growing tired of Hayter's voice "acting."

So my theory is, the game is Ground Zeros and seems to be in two parts, you play the first part as Naked Snake/Big Boss voiced by Keifer as you establish outer haven. Then you play the second part as young Solid Snake and you have to take the old man down, effectively making it a retelling of the original Metal Gear. Im maybe being a little too optomisitic but i hope its the case or im probably going to pass on this one, just like Kevin Conroy is Batman, Nolan North is Deadpool, to me David Hayter is Snake.

I like Kiefer Sutherland, he will give a great performance, but he will never be Snake.

Hayters voice is far to recognizable and iconic at this point.

If you just hear an audio clip, you'll know exactly who it is. Now you'll hear Jack Baur.

Again I really like Kiefer's stuff but at this point it would be like changing Nathan Drake or Shepards voice to a bigger stars voice. No need.

David Hayter is trolling WAYYY to hard for him not to show up somewhere. Ever since this whole deal about him getting replaced started he's been doing nothing but poking people with sticks and getting them riled up about him not being in the game. The "Like New Coke" thing is just....too good.

Did Avi Arad kind of throw David Hayter under the bus, in that Konami show?

I'm torn. On one hand this is awesome. On the other it's frustrating. IT'S AWESOMELY FRUSTATING!!!!!

To me he will always be the dude from the 2nd english version of armitage the 3rd the movie cut and that is all I am going to see the entire time I see words come out of snakes bigboss mouth.

I wish it was still Hayter, but I'm fine with Sutherland taking over as Snake. He'll do a fine job with the role.

i still think hayter will make some sort of cameo as a solid snake at the end of the game.

Is it just me, or was Solid Snake always kind of trying to be Kiefer Sutherland anyway? And I can't be the only one who thinks that the older Big Boss from MGS2 kind of looks like Donald Sutherland.

I'd rather still have Hayter. I never liked Kiefer Sutherland. So sad, Donald's fucking awesome.

EEEeeeeehhhhhh... Snake is Hayter to me. Mr. Sutherland is going to have to turn in one hell of a performance to not garner a lot of disappointment from fans. If they wanted a change I think they should have just gone with an unknown actor, oh well.

Tiny bit down about Hayter's reaction. I fully understand how he might feel especially if things were as unceremonious as they looked from this side. But man, I expected more from the Man I know as Snake. Fingers crossed there is a little bit of theatricality in there for his eventual return as Solid Snake along side the legendary soldier Keifer Sutherland.

I'm totally cool with this.

Not that I'm super attached to any video game voice actor or anything, but there is something crumby about popular TV actors replacing them. Especially for such an iconic part in what will be an obvious big deal of a game.

Then again, I would have picked Kurt Russell.

By the way. Hayter not being Snake (be it Naked/Solid/Liquid etc) is a big deal. He'll be alright and does not need the money but he'll be like Conan without The Tonight Show. There are things that money (or credit) can't buy or replace.

It hurts me inside that Hayter isn't Snake. I have a connection with the Metal Gear series that no other game shares. It's irrational, unconditional love, and this feels a bit like a break up. Ultimately it doesn't matter, because if it has Metal Gear on the box, I must have it, and I must dominate it.

Last time Kojima flipped us fans the bird and did what he wanted, we got Raiden in MGS2. Excellent, incredible game with an absolutely god awful main character. I'm really hoping this isn't a repeat, but it sounds like Keifer understands how significant the role is.

He has 24 hours to determine whether or not love can bloom on a battlefield.

Man, this is odd. I love Kiefer Sutherland and Jack Bauer. I love Snake and David Hayter. I don't really want them to mix... I want them to stand on their own! I can get with what Kojmia is talking about, it seems like he is trying to push the performance aspect of the medium, kinda like how the first Metal Gear Solid did. Looking forward to it.

He was NEVER liquid though. He was not big boss in MGS4 either.

There was always the chance they would call him in again if solid returns in a later game, but I think his bitterness is hurting those chances :(

Anyway, nothing against Kiefer, but he could not have sounded less interested if he tried. Talking about "the game" this and "the character" that, he could have been talking about any other game and character ever.

Say what you will about Hayter, whether you like him or not, he fucking knows Snake and MGS. I also don't think it's a good idea to put a big hollywood name at the center of your franchise. Kiefer might not be Robert Downey Jr in terms of popularity, but voice acting a game is a big time investment and you don't know if he'll always be available when you need him. That's not a problem for professional VAs, especially one you've been using for 15 years and who is part of probably the most iconic voice actor/character combination in the medium.

Wow that... hm. I'm not sure how I feel about this yet. I'm more than willing to welcome a change in Snake's voice (in fact I'm all for it), but I'm not sold on Kiefer being the right choice.

Going to have to wait and see a cut scene or trailer of some kind and see if the voice fits.

Sure. I think Kiefer Sutherland could pull off old man Big Boss (not Solid Snake). Also, the Hayter stuff is obviously all part of the long con for when he shows up at the end of The Phantom Pain as a young Solid Snake.
