Mafia II Re-Release Includes All DLC

2K's action-adventure gets the Director's Cut treatment.

The word about the Mafia II “Director’s Cut” package has been on the street for a while, but now 2K Games has made it official: the publisher is indeed putting out an all DLC-inclusive, cheaper ($30) version of the title across all three of its platforms, the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC

On the consoles, Mafia II "Director’s Cut" will receive the platform’s respective best seller branding, which changes its name to Mafia II Greatest Hits on the PS3 and Mafia II Platinum Hits on Xbox 360. The PC version is the only one that’ll be actually referred to as "Director’s Cut" on the packaging, but all three will combine the same content: the core game, its three content-lean downloadable add-ons, and its four, once retail-exclusive “style” DLC packs.

No Caption Provided

== TEASER ==Just as a refresher, here’s the boilerplate on all the DLC, provided via 2K Games:

  • The Betrayal of Jimmy: Players take on Empire Bay through an alternate perspective of the mob through the eyes of Jimmy, a mercenary. Jimmy is the guy the other guys call when they need to finish the job. The Betrayal of Jimmy features dozens of intense arcade-style, city-based missions that keep Jimmy driving, shooting and rampaging through Empire Bay.
  • Jimmy's Vendetta : Once the mob's most effective ally, Jimmy is now its greatest enemy. Fueled by rage, Jimmy takes on Italian and Irish mobsters in a slew of unlockable city quests, including assassination and timed vehicle pursuits ending in dramatic shootouts.
  • Joe’s Adventures: Play as Joe Barbaro as he rampages through Empire Bay in the wake of Vito Scaletta's prison sentence. Joe must uncover the traitor who betrayed Vito while overcoming the challenges of moving up the ranks in the mob.
  • Four Style Packs [Ed. Once retailer-exclusive] including Vegas, Renegade, Greaser and War Hero - each with two cars and two suits for in-game use.

As for when and where you can find this latest version of Mafia II, well, you can find the console versions at select US retailers right now. The worldwide release of these versions is slated to start hitting shelves later this April, while the PC version is slated to “become available in the coming months.” Here's a Quick Look of the game in action and, hey, a link to our review

So, they released the fairly empty game. People bought it. They used the money to develop actual content and released it over that year and now are finally releasing a completed game all over again?

Mafia II was the most beautiful non-game ever. It's too bad it was so linear and empty.

It's how games should be released in the first place. This inspires me to just wait out the L.A. Noire hype and pre-order shenanigans and wait for a GOTY edition.

Yes. I would have liked the more GTA-ish, arcade-ish approach to Mafia II, but the only thing that held the main game together was the narrative. Granted, it wasn't extremely well done, not by a mile, but at least it was rather engaging and entertaining. Get rid of that, and the game sucks.

And the Achievements, oh, the Achievements. Drive 1000 miles? Get a 2000-point bonus at once? Drive the same car for 30 miles? Whoever thought of these Achievements needs to be shot.

Almost always the best way to go.   Wait for the complete edition or GOTY or whatever they call it, wait for a price drop, and go.

If I were them, I wouldn't want to throw around the term "director's cut" since it implies content that was available when the original was made but was scrapped and put back in later.

I really don't mind paying $30 for Mafia II and all its DLC, even if the game is so-so. At least some fun hours I'm sure!

This is how they should have originally released the game. $30 price point and all the DLC. Maybe $39.99...

Now I might finally pick this up during a Steam sale. I've passed when regular Mafia 2 was dirt cheap a number of times.

after beating this game (and enjoying it) i've no interest in touching it again in 50 years

nothing about it deserves a second playthrough. neither the story/gameplay nor the open world fun (or lack of it)

i'm a big fan of open world games but will stick with the brotherhood DLC for now.  keeping my fingers crossed for la noir -- loved gta but haven't been able to get into red dead yet.

You know, I'd have probably liked this game a lot more if it were not a free-roamer.  That style of game adds a lot more expectations that Mafia II could never meet. Killed the overall experience for me.

Is this game considered worth it with all the DLC at that price point If considering I've never touched the Mafia franchise but have played plenty of open world games?

How about a good ending? In which version are they putting that in?

Does this add any actual meaningful game play to the open world or is it just more of the same?

This is awesome news.

I played the demo of Mafia II, and enjoyed it, although I couldn't get a handle on the driving.  The shooting felt great, though.

Looking forward to when it comes out, DLC included.
