All the footage of the beta is indeed from the PS3. If you mean the trailers posted by DICE, then yes it probably is using the PC DX11 renderer. If you mean the "moments" gameplay videos from DICE, those are also on PS3.

I'm curious what the Squad Play System is. The description doesn't tell enough.  Honestly I expected them to cancel the PC beta altogether.

Crap. I can't pass up Dragon Age at that price, nor can I make time to play it.  Direct2Drive is also having a sale, but it's not as impressive.  Would have gone with THQ complete if I hadn't already picked up most of those games for $5 each (except for DOW2).

It's best to post Battlefield issues on the UK ElectronicArts forums since the North American ones are rarely modded or looked over. Also especially since the DICE team actually uses the UK ones.

I certainly hope the player (Marlowe) keeps quiet this time. He didn't talk much in the first one, but he seemed to flub the tone of every single one of his lines. I'm sure there'll still be humorous interplay between Sweetwater and Haggard. I also hope the actor who played Haggard has studied his Southern accent(s) a little more since last time.

@Seppli: That's really good to know. Hubs instead of packs was one of the things I liked most about 2142. Speaking of which, there's no equivalent of the EMP (in grenade or orbital strike mode) for temporarily disabling vehicles in BC2 is there, by chance?

Another question. On the sound modes, is there finally an option for Headphones? Or is it still TV, Hi-Fi, and Cinema?  I hate the lack of crossfeed when using headphones with BC1 or 1943 (or any other with only stereo [front] instead of phones [sides])

Well Halo and COD are bandwagon series. That's a few notches up from simply 'mainstream'. Yes BF is a mainstream series, but it doesn't have the sales numbers of the games that people buy just because their friends all migrate from one game to another and they don't wanna be left behind. I come across more of that online than I come across people playing games because they have fun ...

Yeah, DICE has always been great with sound, but the Frostbite engine games are exceptional. I haven't played BC2 but if it's anything like BC1 or 1943 and you hook a tactile transducer (aka bass shaker, buttkicker) to the subwoofer channel, you can literally feel the tanks drive by and the bullets impacting you. So many games waste the subwoofer channel on weak sounds or completely ignore it altogether, but ...

@Adziboy: Too busy to look around right now for confirmation, but the BC series is the console series and the regular BF series (1942, 2, 2142) are PC only games. I'm pretty certain they're making BF3 as a PC only game without all the compromises they have to put into console games. @Adziboy: That can't happen if it's a PC only game. The COD4 factor and Halo factor are the products of console gaming and that is a big part of it.

good to know about the rubble. however I was hoping they'd make the vehicles stick around longer after being destroyed. it's weird seeing parts of the level that have built-in vehicle wreckage that stay forever but the usable ones disappear a few seconds after being killed, without interaction.

@CenturionCajun: Yes what you said is indeed a real tactic, but sadly it still works when that last round is fired in the game.
