Ryan Davis, 1979 - 2013

Thanks for being a part of my gaming life for the last eight years Ryan, you were a one-of-a-kind man in this industry. My heartfelt condolences to Ryan's family and his widow.

Ryan. you provided me with entertainment for so many years listening to giant bombcast you were a part of my life every week and even though I've never messaged on here or talked to you i considered you a good friend, and you will be missed a lot. condolences to family and friends.

Here's a little story about Ryan Davis. In the early 2000s, entering the industry was nothing but a dream to me. I ran into Ryan, and ended up getting in a long discussion with him about Resident Evil, which we had strong disagreement about.

This was the first time I'd ever talked to anyone in the industry. And what was cool about that moment was it taught me if you had an informed view and approached industry figures like a normal person and not a fangal, they'd take you seriously. A small moment, yes - but part of what gave me the guts to start my own videogame company.

Ever since then, Ryan Davis has always been one of my favorite people in videogames. I listen to the Giant Bombcast every week, and I love reading his reviews. And even though, I don't really know him - listening to him for so long makes me feel like a friend has passed.

You will be missed, Ryan. My best to your wife and loved ones.

I never really post but I just wanna say that I will miss you Ryan Davis. You didn't know me but I feel like I lost a family member.

I don't even know what to say....i feel stunned...as someone who really looked up to ryan and the giantbomb crew, this is so fucking sad, and i just want to send out my deepest condolances to his family, and friends. we're all going to miss you, buddy.

I do not know how to express my condolences properly. This is truly a profound loss and I can say after following giant bomb for years and watching the interactions between these guys that it cuts me deeply. I care about all these guys as people and that Ryan above all seemed like a fantastic man. RIP Ryan and everyone at giant bomb know that are prayers are with you along with his wife. He will be forever missed.

Listening to Ryan every week made a little bit happier. Thank you man and rest in peace.

Watching the outpouring of love for Ryan is almost too much for me. You will be missed Ryan, by everyone.

Although I never met him, I feel as if I've lost a close friend. Prayers and thoughts are with the family and friends.

I am always sad to hear of someone's passing that is famous to me. With Ryan, I am not sad to hear of it, I am actually sad. So many hours of listening to his voice made you feel like you knew him. This is just terrible news, I can hardly believe it. I wish there was something I could do...

I realise now just how important everybody from Giant Bomb is to me, which is odd when you've never know them personally.

To Anna, the crew, friends and family, you have our condolences. We will truly miss that beautiful man.

Has anyone said how this happened? Was there some freak accident? Did he have a health condition we didn't know about? He was so young. How could this be?

With all the years of listening to podcasts, videos, and quick looks, I feel like I know this man that I've never met. I can't believe how you guys must feel. I am so sorry for your loss. I agree with @vannuys is there anything the community to do to help ease the burden. He was loved by many, even if many never met him.

For some reason I keep thinking about Ryan at PAX and a guy asked a booth babe to take a picture of him and Ryan. I think that is just one example of how much the community loved him.

He will be greatly missed by all.

I'm completely stunned by this news, a chill has run through me. This is such a huge loss to GB and the whole video game community. Ryans commentary and sense of humor was one of my favourite parts of the Giant Bombcast. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

A lot of people would consider it ludicrous to sit here and cry over a person I've never met in my life. But I've followed Giant Bomb for a long time, (albeit not nearly as long as some,) but long enough to feel like Ryan, Jeff, Vinny, Brad, Alex, and all of the other duders are family to me. It's hard to believe that barely a week ago I was watching a bunch of Ryan's quick looks, psyched to hear him on the bombcast, ranting on about his wedding and how ridiculous it was. Ryan may be gone, but his Tuuuueeesdays will never be forgotten, nor will his summerjams.

Ryan, thank you for all you've done for the gaming industry. Thanks for getting me through rough patches in my life, and thanks for doing what you loved. My deepest condolences to everyone at GB and Ryan's wife.

The amount of years he has made brutal shifts at work fly by. The amount of times I've tried to mimic that confidence and wit. The amount of times he's made me laugh.

I've lost a friend. A friend I never met, that never knew me. I'll still call him a friend. This sure feels like I've lost a friend. God dammit Duders, I'm weeping here and I know some of you are with me. Stupid forum words are not enough.

This is so sad. My condolences to the GB crew. He was such a big part of the face of GB, I, as many of us will miss him greatly.

I wont claim to know Ryan, but I really want him and his family to know how far beyond video games his personality and engagement of the community touched me. From the occassional retweet, putting things beyond video games in perspective on the podcast, and seeing what a great fucking dude you were to your friends, you made this world a better place.

Been listening to the bombcasts for almost two years now. I really liked that Ryan could be fun on the show and a good host as well. He showed a lot of talent and personality and he will definitely be missed by all of us.

Wait, what?? Surreal beyond words. Heart goes out to everyone struck by this unspeakable tragedy that coudn't possible have arrived at a worse time, including Ryan's wife, and all the folks at Giantbomb who had the pleasure of working Ryan all these years. Truly unfathomable to have even thought about this a few days ago, much less have it happen just like that -- unbelievable.

It feels like a close friend has just died, even though I never had the pleasure of meeting Ryan in person.

He's been responsible for reducing me to uncontrollable fits of laughter on public transport so many times, so I guess it's fitting that he should reduce me to tears on the train now.

Ryan, you'll be so sorely missed. Thank you so much for all these years of good times, they've come to a close far too soon.

My thoughts are with Anna and all of his family and friends. If there's anything we can do to ease the sorrow in the slightest way, we'll all be here.

I've been pretty lonely and depressed lately, and the bomb crew have been pals to me during my irregular work hours and long walks. So thank you Ryan, even though we never met, you have been a close friend of mine. My fingers are trembling and there is a huge lump in my throat. Rest in peace.

This is brutal. While I never talked to Ryan, I consistently kept listening/watching his work from the Gamespot days and all the way up to today. He was easily one of my favorite podcast hosts and nobody will be able to replace him. I can't imagine how the entire GiantBomb/GameSpot staff is doing, having lost such an essential member of their family.

RIP man. It's always too soon.
