Sounds Like Journey’s Finally Done

It’s worth waiting a good, long time for the next game (though experience might be a better word for their past stuff) from thatgamecompany, and I can’t think of a game I’ve been patiently waiting harder for than Journey.

Fortunately, it looks like we won’t have to wait much longer.

“3 years is a long time,” said designer Jenova Chen on Twitter today, “[and] when you finally finished something and look back, ‘What have I done in the past 3 years?’ Hope it's worth it.”

Journey may be done, but it doesn’t have a release date yet, according to Chen.

“Once Sony figure out the right time, they will announce it,” he said. “I assume pretty soon.”

Fingers crossed.

I can't wait. I hope it doesn't come out too soon after Mass Effect 3 though. That game's going to devour my life.

Soooo... I would be so stoked if this game was announced for Vita.

I think this is the first time I'm genuinely excited for a game featuring primarily sand environments.

I say the best time to release this game is during the summer since it'll fit well because of its setting. Either way I want it to be soon.

First off, hell nah! Journey got a new lead singer awhile ago - they found a kid on Youtube from the Phillipines who sounds EXACTLY like Steve Perry. They've been touring around with Arnel Pineda (the 'n' needs a tilde over it; I don't know how to type that) for awhile now, and they sound as bitchin' as ever! See:

Secondly, there's no doubt this will be worth it. I just find it odd that they spent 3 years on it. Isn't the point of downloadable games to work on smaller games that can be done faster? It's why David Jaffe turned away from God of War to do Calling All Cars. It's why Valve wanted to do Half Life 2 episodes (they totally screwed up that plan, though). 3 years IS a lot of time to be working on something, especially for a team like ThatGameCompany.

Journey will be amazing and unforgettable. I just hope they don't 3 years with their next title.

It would be cool if this was free for ps+ subscribers. Most likely though, it wil just have a $3 discount.

Fuck yeah. Re-playing Shadow of the Colossus (the HD port) made me remember this game and really crave it.

I am excited to play a new machinegunless game.

Also, Jenova Chen seems pretty awesome after hearing him talk for a bit during the e3 broadcasts. I like his stuff(although I don't always think they're games), so I hope this plays as cool as it appears to.
