Yeah, in a way this is probably what EA is probably going to market to go head to head with Destiny since Battlefield has been pretty much focused on going up against Call of Duty. My other worry is that this is probably going to be also the same time frame as Watch Dogs.

Also Destiny being a console exclusive with no plans of a PC release at the moment is a deal breaker for me. :(

Also: Man, I have never gotten into Collector's Editions but this one though....0_o

I'll just wait for PS4 6-12 months down the road or Titanfall 2. Respawn has said numerous times a major factor outside of the co-marketing help from Microsoft for the exclusivity was they didn't have the manpower or the money for a new studio's first IP to hit five platforms. So they limited scope to two consoles and PC. And have dropped hints all over the place about it not being out of the question later down the road for PS4. Hell they've said flat out their choice of the source engine was because it played nice with PS3.

Let's be honest, EA and Respawn are deathly afraid of Dark Souls II and are trying to get out there before it does.

Looking like a day one XB1 purchase for me. That statue looks pretty damn awesome too. I'm always wary of buying expensive collectors editions for new franchises though. Wouldn't want to get stuck with an 18" statue for a game I end up hating.

Dang I wonder how many Collector Editions they will make/sell. Either way, stoked for this game.

@gaspower: Watch Dogs is slated now between April and June. Even if it goes early April that is about a month out from Titanfall. EA and Respawn are probably concerned for the amount marketing dollars Activision will throw behind Bungie and Destiny. For the Call of Duty crowd I don't think Respawn will be able to float on from the makers of COD the same way Bungie will. If you're a Halo player you know that Bungie logo regardless of how casual you are. I suspect not every COD player knows back story to Respawn.

That's my birthday! Too bad I'm not terribly interested in first person shooters, but that's nice that it will come out this soon for those who are eagerly anticipating it. I'm definitely curious to see what happens with PS4 though.

So it seems like waiting until spring to pick up a new console is the right idea right now.

Well no time for this game sadly. If they are releasing on the same time as Dark Souls 2, then I will be too busy adventuring in chain-mail to pilot a mech.

$250 for a collectors edition?! $100 dollars more and you'd have yourself a PS4 for that, hell even a Wii U for that. To think you could either get a game or an entirely new console is kind of batshit insane. Anyone know what the standard price'll be?

Will pick it up on PC just because I am not very patient but when it gets its PS4 release I will be all over it like white on rice, that's where all my workmates will be playing it :)

Anyway, I found it interesting. He also discusses meeting with Sony early on and why they went with Microsoft instead:

"I personally talked to both Microsoft and Sony and explained that we need to find a way to have potentially hundreds-of-thousands of dedicated servers at a price point that you can’t get right now. Microsoft realized that player-hosted servers are actually holding back online gaming and that this is something that they could help solve, and ran full-speed with this idea.

The Xbox group came back to us with a way for us to run all of these Titanfall dedicated servers and that lets us push games with more server CPU and higher bandwidth, which lets us have a bigger world, more physics, lots of AI, and potentially a lot more than that!"

In my opinion, until Sony can beef up it's server support for PSN with any semblance of dedicated servers as opposed to having to rely on player-hosting or just Gaikai cloud streaming, I don't think Titanfall will be arriving on that platform anytime soon.

with a release date on this now, i'm starting to get excited for next gen, need a job first though to afford the new consoles as PC struggling to play games on high graphical settings lately and I know it'll get worse with a next generation and the general bump in system requirements that will bring

@ei8htbit: That is all well and good but people totally blow out of proportion the way Titanfall uses the Azure network. Respawn has also said the PC version will not have those tools and it will be slightly different. The Azure network is being used for two things in Titanfall, dedicated servers and offloading AI. The AI for the PC version will need to be retooled to run off memory. This isn't something earth shattering considering every game ever made that is not Titanfall has run its AI off system memory. As for dedicated servers its an EA game. EA has its own server infrastructure in place that it uses for every other single game they put out. They can release Titanfall on the PlayStation 4 and use their own servers and have even more control over the game. Titanfall is not magic and the Azure network is not magic they are not intertwined that the game is coming out of two platforms that don't have access to it.

Garrrr this has put a royal spanner in the works was right about to cancel my one preorder and walk off into the sunset with the ps4 now the great debate of our time ( in my head ) begins again

Went with the PC version myself, but pretty reliable "insiders" have put the timed exclusivity at 1 year, so if true, I would guess a PS4 version will drop no earlier than 3/15.

Whether or not that holds true remains to be seen. If it becomes huge, then potentially MS could throw a lot of money at Respawn to keep the franchise on the XBox platform, but that becomes harder to justify for Respawn if the PS4 ends up with a bigger install base IMO.

Interesting to speculate, fun to watch it all play out over time.

But what date will it be delayed to?

Don't need a Xbox One until March then, right?

Edit: I'm surprised there are so many people that actually think Titanfall won't outsell Dark Souls 2. Both should be great games but TF just has a much broader appeal.
