Xbox 360, Wii Receive Holiday Price Cuts

Nothing expected from Sony on the PS3 or Vita front, however.

It’s nearly the holiday season, so it’s not a surprise both Nintendo and Microsoft have enacted price cuts. Both Xbox 360 and Wii are seeing tweaked bundles as October rolls into November.

The new $129.99 blank-tinted Wii bundle includes both Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort on a single disc, in addition to a Wii Motion Plus controller and matching nunchuck. All of those games and controllers will work on that fancy new Wii U coming next month.

Microsoft has enacted cuts to several of its holiday bundles, as well. The more vanilla Xbox 360 hardware options are the same price as always, but the $299.99 bundles, which come in several varieties, are now $249.99. It’s likely these are “temporary” cuts, as the bundles often change.

Hot damn! Imma buy two!*

*Will not actually buy any.

Posted by Anvil

No thanks Microsoft and Nintendo I'll stick to my PC for now.

Posted by sissylion

I will buy a Wii when it drops down to about fifty dollars.

Posted by triviaman09

Damn it. PS3 is the one I actually want to drop in price.

Posted by dcgc

I'm waiting for the 4GB to be 100€... It'll take a while I see.

Posted by laserbolts

Yeah I wish the PS3 would drop. I have an old launch fatty but it's loud as fuck for whatever reason. Would suck to give up the backward compatibility though.

Posted by Wuddel

Yeah, whats the point? At this time in the cycle?

Posted by RE_Player1

Now is the time to buy a Wii...

"blank-tinted"?

"blank-tinted"

Posted by crusader8463

Hard to believe that there are actually tons of people out there that stay one generation behind for sales just like this. Wish I had the Willpower to do so. Would save me a ton of money.

Posted by Mendelson9

Also remember that the Wii now has no Gamecube ports, just so you know.

Posted by Spitznock

I'm gonna go right out and say that a Forza 4/Skyrim bundle sounds awfully more enticing than a Wii Sports/Sports Resort bundle.

Posted by vincent_stocchetti

This late in the cycle, I'm playing mostly on PC.

Edited by SecondHeartbeat

Finally decided to bite the bullet and get a PS3 just now - 12gb super slim model from Amazon for £160. Figured if I didn't get one now I never would with new consoles looming. Don't want to miss out on playing Uncharted, Heavy Rain, Demon Souls, Infamous, Resistance, God of War etc. edit - oh shit and I'll get to play Tokyo Jungle =D

Posted by AcidBrandon18

Also the Halo 4 Xbox is $349.99 instead of $399.99. I guess they dropped it by $50 too.

Believe it or not, but there are people out there that do not own a PS3/360/Wii and those people are probably incredibly price-sensitive.

Well, they already made their move with the redesigned PS3. While it's no cheaper than the old SKUs, you get more stuff for that price at the very least.

@alternate: Was wondering the same thing...

Posted by Brandino

Tempted to pick up a 360 but since the XBOX 3 is most likely coming out next year i don't want to waste my money. Besides my PS3 has been treating me fine for years.

Posted by Cday

as if new Wiis are even worth buying

Posted by l4wd0g

With the Wii’s product saturation, and the release of the Wii U in a month, I don’t think $20 is a barrier to entry on the Wii.

Posted by Gold_Skulltulla

Here's hoping Sony follows suit

Posted by steelerzfan101

Hmm...the XBOX 360 stuff looks pretty good. I don't think a Wii is worth buying now though, just wait for the Wii U!

Posted by KlUMZeE

Strange that there's no price cut for PS3.

Also, I'm taking bets as to weather or not we see an official Xbox 720/PS4 announcement shortly before the release of Wii U to try and steal some of that thunder. Who thinks it's gonna happen?

Posted by heatDrive88

I'm also still waiting for a more significant PS3 price drop, as I would like to buy a Blu-Ray player. Is this even still a viable thing that makes sense?

Posted by Joker369

My launch 360 is so damn loud and has such low storage that I'll probably get a new one this year.

Posted by ComixZone

these announcements make Sony's decision to maintain their price-point (despite a new model being on the market) all the more confusing/silly.

This. Vita I can kinda understand because they have not really made any money back on it yet, but the PS3 has loads of the older models floating around. Not that it really matters what they do, the Wii U is going to destroy them in sales, especially in Japan.

Posted by sterbacblu

Heads up to anyone considering that Xbox bundle, Forza 4 only comes with the first disc. If you want the rest of the cars that were on the second disc it's 1200 points.

Posted by OleMarthin

@Joker369: i sold my launch and got an s when it came out. never looked back. had to buy a heater tho, as the new one left my bedroom much colder than the old one:P

I am assuming a typo for black-tinted. More just black though, tinted makes me think if those transparent black ps2 editions

@triviaman09: @laserbolts: Ummm...Sony launched a brand new revision of the PS3 within the last couple of weeks at a much lower price point.

As for people that are saying "why get one this late in the cycle", the answer is simple: many people aren't going to be getting the new consoles for the next two years. Therefore, current gen is still very viable.

Posted by Demoskinos

That is a crazy deal for that bundle Skyrim , Forza 4 and a 250GB 360 for only $250? Skyrim is a REALLY good get for that bundle even if it is only a download code.

The new PS3's RRP is higher than the RRP of the Slim it replaced. Sony doesn't like price cuts, they say they like to leave it up to retailers to do that.

Sony didn't lower the price on the PS3 when they released that new model. It's still $300 and they come with Uncharted 3.

Posted by gamefreak9

How old is xbox 360? Like 7 years? Still selling so much? Come on... make it like 150 and I might come in.

Edited by Krataur

@alternate: Oh right, that would make sense. I forgot the new Wiis are black. I kept thinking of the original white Wiis while trying to make sense of "blank-tinted".

Posted by EndlessLotus

I remember buying the first bundle for the 360.

Never played the Forza that came with it, but I played the hell out of Marvel Ultimate Alliance....

Still $300 bucks after you pay for a gold membership

@triviaman09: well good news, they raised it :)

Also, Sony sold 2.3 million PS2s for the 2012 fiscal year. Definitely not too late for this generation.

if you're stupidly paying retail for xbox live then yes... however i do not and haven't for the last 6 years.

Shame about the Vita, if they cut the price I might buy one, if only for P3 FES and P4 the Golden.

I'm not incredibly cheap but I did sell my old 60 GB Xbox 360 a while ago in order to upgrade to the newer slim version, so perhaps its the time to get one but i just tire of the old ad infested Xbox ui. I want something new and no avatars please because i just dont care for them.

Edited by That1BlackGuy

Fuck yes, best news I've heard in a while. I'm" a mid-to-end cycle console adopter so it goes without saying Xbox 360 here I come!... during Black Friday that is.

Posted by KarmaPoliceman

Jesus, a Wii with two great games and a motion plus controller for $130 is a pretty great deal. I would almost sell my current Wii to buy that bundle if I didn't need the Gamecube ports.
