Xbox Brings Out the Big Gunns

Microsoft is teaming up with James Gunn, a writer with credits on films such a Tromeo and Juliet and Slither.

While my initial appraisal of Microsoft's plans to produce original (presumably premium) video content for Xbox Live Marketplace was less than optimistic, things are looking up following the revelation that writer/director James Gunn will be involved

For those unfamiliar with the work of Mr. James Gunn, his style falls somewhere between Sam Raimi and Eli Roth--gross, but hilarious. He's credited for writing the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead, as well as my #1 favorite Troma movie, Tromeo and Juliet. He also wrote both of the Scooby-Doo movies, but I choose not to hold that against him. Perhaps my favorite work of his is the truly inspired 2006 horror-comedy Slither, which he both wrote and directed. I could try to describe its awesomeness, but I'll rely on this vile YouTube clip to get my point across for me.

And that's not even the best part!

According to G4, he's currently in the casting process for something described as being akin to Wonder Showzen and South Park, with "Girl in Bikini" listed as one of the roles he's looking to fill. So, you know, it'll be something classy. My only lingering concern now is that Microsoft will let Gunn see through his presumably pus-and-laff-filled vision.

Slither is a lot like Night of the Creeps. Alien slugs go into people's mouths and turn them into zombies. The slug lays eggs in the brain of the person and when they hatch, the zombie's head explodes. You should watch it if you haven't seen it.
