Poison Ivy was a dream-costume of mine ever since I was seven. I caught Batman: The Animated Series every Saturday morning on WB and weekday afternoons on Cartoon Network. I was fascinated with the world Bruce Timm and Paul Dini created and especially enjoyed episodes featuring her. She is an ambitious and strong-willed woman with a passion for what she thinks is right and I can't help but respect that despite her fanatical intentions. "Pretty Poison" was my favorite episode, and is the inspiration for the photo above. In one episode, we combine almost all of my loves: flowers, perfumes, and killer make-up. (Haha, and in the episode, it was literal.)

In late October/early November I flew up to Chicago for a field trip (for those of you new to my blog, I am a grad architecture student). I expressed my desire to have a Batman themed photoshoot in Chicago to QueenRiot and she made arrangements with a local photographer, pbjstudios, to make it happen. QueenRiot is the Catwoman pictured above, and she also brought along Peachykiki to be our Harley. My vision was to have us all posing with the Chicago skyline in the background since Chicago is the city that most resembles Gotham to me, but unfortunately it was too cold and this was not a possibility for any of the participants. Pbjstudios was nice enough to open up his studio to us to make this shoot happen. Thank you, Joe! :D

These last few photos were taken at Dragon*Con 2012. I had a wonderful time at the convention and look forward to cosplaying Poison Ivy in the future. The next time I don this costume I aim to have her wrist crossbow. I am dead-set on making it out of styrene but have been too lazy to pattern it out thus far, but the next DragonCon isn't until September so there is plenty of time.

Great look, I love your figure. I'm only getting back into the whole Batman mythos off the back of recently playing Arkham City, which feels a lot like what I remember of the Animated Series I watched as a kid. Obviously some of the char designs are very different, but you make for a sexy retro-flavoured Ivy.

@Laivasse: Awesome! I love what the Arkham games have done for the franchise. I haven't had a chance to play them yet, but hey I'm game for keeping Batman alive and well for when I have kids. And yay! I was hoping there would be Batman: TAS lovers on here. :D

It belongs in off topic honestly. To say that it's relevant because of a TAS game from 1993 that wasn't even mentioned in the original post is kind of silly. Either way, I don't want to be mean. Just saying that it belongs either in off topic or comic vine.

You are the one who is "on" some unsavory substance. Giant bomb doesn't force you to post your blogs on the forums. You have the choice to do that, in which case you have to attach it to something relevant. Overall, every sub-forum is video game related other than off-topic. Anyways, to the people who want to keep messaging me about how I'm wrong for some reason, you can stop. I don't feel like wasting more time replying to something so inconsequential. I was just making a correction.

Also, there are Bayman games that use Poison Ivy's Bruce Timm design. Also, it's very well done.

I quite like the cosplay! I loved Batman:The Animated Series, although I've found something to like about every cartoon incarnation of Batman since, as well. My favorite villains were always Catwoman, Joker, and Harley Quinn, though I have soft spots for Ivy, Mr. Freeze, and The Penguin as well.

Sorry the cosplay poses didn't work out as well as you'd hoped, sometimes you can't always cosplay who you want or the way you want because of the weather. Hope you can make up for it next year.

The Cosplay is cool, The animated series is great. I mostly wanted to post something about how much I love the Clayface episode where Batman jump kicks him and gets his leg stuck.

@GunstarRed: Ah! That was an awesome episode. Clayface is definitely underrated, I wish they would put him in more. I do not believe he has been attempted in the movies at all, let alone in the realm of cosplay. This is the best one out there, though: Clayface cosplay

@tunaburn: Thank you. :) Bruce Timm does a great job designing his ladies. I wish I could get my hands on a legit print of his but even his doodles go for over 2 grand. God help you if you want one of the bat-ladies.

Thank you very much! They were all excellent villains, it is difficult to choose just one to love! I don't know about you, but this holiday season I was singing the Joker's jiggle-bells cover: Jingle bells, batman smells, robin laid an egg, etc. In 2nd grade I thought a guy in my class singing it was just clever until I saw the episode, haha. Tying this back to cosplay, this is my favorite Joker cosplayer. Most people do the Dark Knight version these days, so very much appreciate when men attempt the classic Joker. What did you think of Anne Hathaway's rendition of Selina Kyle in "The Dark Knight Rises"? I certainly enjoyed it because it was obvious the director's inspiration for Catwoman's demure was that of Batman: TAS.

@alternate: lol Character designers usually don't have comfort in mind for most of their heroes and heroines. I couldn't tell you how many times we fell over attempting to do some of the lunges to recreate artwork pictures. My friend cosplayed Phoenix-force Emma Frost and I'm pretty sure that costume was lined with fashion tape.

@Video_Game_King: Hahahha! DERP! My money's on drunk. She's got some other pretty god derpy faces throughout the series. That was just one of the captured VLC snapshots for cosplay research. :D
