What do you think it is? Fallout?

http://thesurvivor2299.com/

Basically has morse code going and a 26 day countdown. Whether it's real or not can be debated. But the owner is listed as ZeniMax Media.

Thought that was a hoax?

Wasn't confirmed one way or the other. Whois directory search shows the owner as ZeniMax Media but it's not hosted on a site they usually use.

Give me Fallout 4 you beautiful bastards. I hope it's real. On a new next gen engine.

#6 Posted by Doctorchimp (4076 posts) -

Text seems sorta like Fallout.

#7 Posted by RadecAU (92 posts) -

Looking in the source there are images from http://prepareforthefuture.com which is an official fallout site, so yeah new fallout probably.

Oh god yes. Fallout 3/NV was so ugly and so janky. Fallout 3 was probably the first time I had ever seen a console game crash and it had done so repeatedly.

It's so due for them to move off Gamebryo. I expect their games to always be buggy because of their scope but they can start looking a lot better and maybe be less buggy.

Obviously I won't want to see Gamebryo limping it's broke ass onto next gen platforms.

I expect a Creation Engine 2 more than a brand new engine.

Brink 2

#12 Edited by RollingZeppelin (1971 posts) -

@slaegar: just say no to gamebryo, pretty excited to see what they will do with next gen fallout!

#13 Edited by BeachThunder (11927 posts) -

Get cracking on that morse code someone. It's hurting my ears ;_;

Edit: MP3.

#14 Edited by Butano (1738 posts) -

So looking at the source code on the site, there are some img tags that link to prepareforthefuture.com, which redirects to fallout.bethsoft.com....

Fuck. Yes.

EDIT: Also, their stylesheet references fallout.css. Again - Fuck. Yes.

#15 Posted by Dark (379 posts) -

Yeh there are links pointing to fallout in the source, gonna go out of a limb and say fallout.

#16 Posted by Milkman (16779 posts) -

Something new would be nice. But lol video games, right?

#17 Edited by BeachThunder (11927 posts) -

Morse: 12.11.13 11.12.13

#18 Posted by Druminator (1678 posts) -

Oh dear god yes.

#19 Edited by PeasantAbuse (5138 posts) -

Awesome, I really want to play a new Fallout.

#20 Posted by DaddyCabinet (200 posts) -

I dunno I think Bethesda miss the mark with fallout 3/NV. I am not really looking forward to more from them.

#21 Posted by gaminghooligan (1442 posts) -

So Fallout 3/NV take place between 2278-2281. Which would put this right in the timeline perfectly.... please let this be real....

#22 Edited by Disaya (290 posts) -

Oh god this makes me so happy and excited, we need Fallout 4!

#23 Edited by Nev (548 posts) -

Oh man. If this is Fallout this will be the first game announcement in a very long time to get me excited.

Well, it links to an official Fallout website...

Sigh, maybe I should finally get around to playing FO3...

#27 Posted by coaxmetal (1619 posts) -

I didn't like fallout 3 that much. It was ok. It wasn't as good as the elder scrolls games and it wasn't as good as the original fallout games though. the best of none of the worlds.

#28 Edited by _Zombie_ (1462 posts) -

Hope it's real. I'm gonna be really fucking hyped if it is.

If they finally get rid of Gamebryo though, I really want a new face creator.

#29 Posted by PurpleMoustache (106 posts) -

Did a WhoIs lookup on the site, it appears to be registered in Poland, so take that what you will

#30 Posted by ShadowConqueror (3051 posts) -

they should do this so they can get Obsidian to make a semi sequel that's actually any good.

Jesus. That scared the shit out of me. Why are my speakers up so loud?

Literally the exact same thing happened to me.

#42 Posted by BaneFireLord (2933 posts) -

@krullban: There are two IP addresses listed on who.is; one of them (199.15.249.30) traces to Baltimore, but the other (5.133.13.121) traces to Poland. In addition, pinging the site comes up with an address (d13121.vibiznes.pl) that links to a Polish internet hosting site. Since it seems highly doubtful that an American company making a game set in America would be using a sketchy-looking Polish service (the front page of the site has fucking Lorem Ipsum placeholder text on it) to host a website to announce said game, it's fake. I'd love to be proven wrong, but all signs point to it being a hoax. Some asshole with too much time on his hands wanted to fuck with people, as people on the internet are so wont to do.

#43 Edited by dekkadekkadekka (733 posts) -

@banefirelord: Or they're just hosting it in the US and Europe for load-balancing purposes. Can't say it's fake or real either way right now. Let's just wait until the 11th of December.

#44 Edited by Seedofpower (3928 posts) -

This is so obviously fallout.

#45 Edited by Funkydupe (3318 posts) -

Please be real!

#46 Posted by BaconGames (3403 posts) -

I would be more excited if Skyrim wasn't left in a weird limbo where it would really benefit from one final patch to fix the lip and face issues and bring it up to 2.0. Whether this is fake or not, we should start hearing about what the hell Bethesda is up to next sooner rather than later I guess.

#47 Edited by ArbitraryWater (11720 posts) -

It's Fallout 4, and I welcome Bethesda in their attempt to make the same kind of progression that Skyrim had from Oblivion.

Also, when South Park flops Obsidian can make another superior psuedo-sequel with better writing and more balanced gameplay, but like 3x the bugs at launch.

I think Bethesda and Obsidian are on the same level when it comes to buggy games.

Its the next Elder Scrolls but set way into the future where Tamriel has been devasted by nuclear war.
