    Undeserving: Transcript

And then, the archangel showed a vision: a city, lighter than air. I asked her, "Why do you show this to me, archangel? I'm not a strong man, I'm not a righteous man, I am not a holy man." And she told me the most remarkable thing: "You're right, Prophet. But if grace is within the grasp of one such as you, how can anyone else not see it in themselves?"

    Zachary Hale Comstock

    Zachary Hale Comstock

For I Am Lonely, Too: Transcript

Madame Lutece - I have read all your books on the sciences, Mama says, “it’s not a fit occupation for a lady,” but I think she’s jealous of our cleverness. Is it true that only you are allowed to visit the girl in the tower? If the Lamb is longer too, I should like to meet her, as we would have much in common. - Warmest regards, Constance

    Constance Field

I told you, Comstock – you sell ‘em paradise, and the customers expect cherubs for every chore! No menials in God’s kingdom! Well, I’ve a man in Georgia who’ll lease us as many Negro convicts as you can board! Why, you can say they’re simple souls, in penance for rising above their station. Whatever eases your conscience, I suppose.

    Jeremiah Fink

Father Comstock called me today to write his biograph. Me! The man pays for exactly 100 pages, in advance. Now, I’m half a Jew when I smell silver, so I say, I say: “Father, your flock would pay for a thousand, you know. Why settle for less?” And then, the Prophet looks to me and says, “One hundred will suffice, as I know how it ends.”

    Ed Gaines

    Otis’ Nimble Fingers: Transcript

Otis works up at the lodge part-time. He took this box from one of their secret ceremonies, and I know for sure there is something dear inside. Problem is, Otis is more fool than not. He didn’t bother to also secure a key from the feathered brothers to open the damn thing.

    Byron Cotswold

    Locked Chest #1

There will be a stage with the banner that says, ‘Wild West Show!’ Climb up the stage and the Voxophone is on a table on, which is in front of a bear.

    A New Hunt: Transcript

Comstock came by the wagon at dawn. Man was just… he just transfixed by my trophy scalps. Asked about the white ones, there. I said, “Well, sir – if your quarry dwells in the jungle, and beds down with the local color, why split hair?” [Laughs] Not a chuckle out of him. Either he ain’t seen a man go native, or maybe… maybe too many. Anyhow, now he’s got me huntin’ down this “Daisy Fitzroy.” Hope he don’t expect me to stuff and mount her.

    Preston E. Downs

Kinetoscope #7 – Danger On All Sides!

    Kinetoscope #7

Looking at the stage, turn to your right and go up the stairs. Up here, to your right there will be a Kinetoscope at the back of a white tent.

Voxophone #9 – The Gift of the Emancipator

    - Zachary Hale Comstock (April the 14th, 1905)

    Voxophone #9

The next building you should enter should have a large statue with the nameplate that reads John Wilkes Booth on it. Turning to your left you will see some people in here, who turn hostile. After killing them, go up to the bar on the left side of the room. There are two framed paintings behind it. On the right side of the bar will be a Voxophone.

The Gift of the Emancipator: Transcript

And when the angel Columbia gave unto the Founders the tools to build the new Eden, they did so without hesitation. For 85 years, they prepared the way of the Lord. But when the Great Apostate came, he brought war with him, and the fields of Eden were soaked with the blood of brothers. The only emancipation he had to offer was death.

    Zachary Hale Comstock

Voxophone #10 – The Lie of the Emancipator

    - Zachary Hale Comstock (April the 14th, 1905)

    Voxophone #10

Returning to the John Wilkes Booth statue, head up the stairs and proceed through the door. At the end, you will see a bunch of enemies downstairs. This would be a good place to throw a Devil’s Kiss trap. After dealing with the enemies, head down to where they were and turn around and look at the benches. The second one from the front of the left side will have a Voxophone.

The Lie of the Emancipator: Transcription

What exactly was the “Great Emancipator” emancipating the Negro from? From his daily bread. From the nobility of honest work. From wealthy patrons who sponsored them from cradle to the grave. From clothing to shelter. And what have they done with their freedom? Why, go to Finkton, and you shall find out. No animal is born free, except the white man. And it is our burden to care for the rest of creation.

    Zachary Hale Comstock

    Infusion #2

Turning around and heading up the stairs there will be a table with an infusion on it. The backdrop is a large mural titled ‘For God and Country’. The key for the locked chest is right next to the Infusion. Be sure to pick it up and bring it back to unlock it.

Go into the room on the left of the projector’s image and turn right to see a large sign on the wall that says, ‘Protecting Our Race.’ The table on the left side closest to this wall will have a Voxophone.

    Symbols of Our Lady: Transcript

Sweet mother of Columbia, why do we worship three symbols in your memory? We worship the sword, so what we might avenge you. We worship the raven, so that we might cover the city with eyes. We worship the coffin, because it symbolizes the weight of our failure.

    First Zealot

    Telescope #2

When you eventually arrive outside after fighting one of the enemies that disappears and reappears with crows, and you receive the Murder of Crows Vigor, to your left a ship will fly in. Chapter 5: Monument Island Gateway

Kinetoscope #8 – Uncanny Mystery in Columbia

Arriving at the Gateway, after a short load, you will be in a large room. You will see a Ticketing sign on your left; turning to your right there will be a Kinetoscope in between two large advertisements, each behind a bench.

    Telescope #3

Upon leaving the building, you will see a skyline on the left and a ship on your right. Attach yourself to the skyline, and after a little while you will see a balcony which two enemies will start firing at you from. Detach onto this balcony, kill the enemies and there will be a Telescope on one of the corners.

    Infusion #4

Once you have had a look through the telescope, you can enter the area the balcony is attached to. Turn right into a small room and past some boxes, there will be an Infusion upgrade sitting on the left side of a table.

Voxophone #12 – Another Ask For Another Time

    - Zachary Hale Comstock (September the 9th, 1893)

Continuing on, you will reattach yourself to the skyline and eventually slow down inside an area where you can dive down to attack an enemy. On the right side of the skyline, there will be a room, which leads onto another room. In here there is a Voxophone on a table.

Another Ask For Another Time: Transcript

“And the Lord saw the wickedness of man was great. And he repented he had made man on the Earth.” Rain! Forty days and 40 nights of the stuff. And he left not a thing that walked alive. You see, my friends, even God is entitled to a do-over. And what is Columbia if not another Ark, for another time?

    Zachary Hale Comstock

    Chapter 6: Monument Tower

Voxophone #13 – Tiger By the Tail

    - Ty Bradley (April the 8th, 1912)

Arriving at Monument Island, you will enter a building, just past a statue of an angel holding a scroll. To the left of another angel statue are some lockers, one is open and has a Voxophone inside.

    Tiger by the Tail: Transcript

I guess even in a restricted area, these crackers need someone to clean the floors, hm? Hmph. Those politicians and scientists don’t bother ‘bout what they say ‘round me, because I’m some half-lettered colored boy. But I can tell they scared of their wits by that thing they got locked upstairs, yessir. They got a tiger by the tail, and they don’t know whether to hang on… or run.

    Ty Bradley

Voxophone #14 – To: R. Thompson RE: Fuses

    - Ty Bradley (July the 3rd, 1912)

Carrying on through this area, you will pass by a room with huge electrical coils, which seems to be powering something called the Siphon Passive. As soon as you exit this room, turn left and you will see a metal door under a ‘Specimen is Dangerous’ sign. As you enter this door, there will be a Voxophone on the right on top of a cabinet.

To: R. Thompson RE: Fuses: Transcript

Uh, Mr. Thompson, sir, I replaced the entire fuse bank as asked, and the light were all in working order last night – last night… There they go again. We go through boxes of fuses every day as of late, just in the Siphon alone, I don’t… Oh! Oh, Lord, something’s happening! What – [Screams]

    Ty Bradley

    Voxophone #15 – A Reward, Deferred

    - Zachary Hale Comstock (July the 5th, 1912)

Backtracking out of this room and back into the hallway, turn left and open the double doors to see even more huge electrical coils. In front of you is a blackboard and table, where you will find a Voxophone placed on top.

    A Reward, Deferred: Transcript

It is one thing to imagine one’s future… and another to see it. I have seen the seeds of fire that will prepare the Sodom below for the coming of the Lord. But Elizabeth shall sow these seeds, not I. I will fall before the job is done. But she shall take up my mantle. The Lord is calling me home. I feel his love in every tumor, because they are the train which takes me to his station. And I go with joy, knowing that Elizabeth will take my earthly place. But the False Shepherd is coming to lead my Lamb astray. I will not board that train until she is safe from his deceptions.

    Zachary Hale Comstock

    Infusion #5

Hidden behind this table, is the next Infusion Upgrade. It is on the right side, just under the blackboard.

Voxophone #16 – The Source of Her Power

    - Rosalind Lutece (September the 5th, 1909)

While progressing through the monument, Booker becomes a voyeur of Elizabeth. After seeing watching her twice, you climb some stairs and come to another lever to unveil her. To the right of this lever, on top of a chair, will be a Voxophone.

The Source of Her Power: Transcript

What makes the girl different? I suspect it has less to do with what she is, and rather more with what she is not. A small part of her remains from where she came. It would seem the universe does not like its peas mixed with its porridge.

    Rosalind Lutece

    Chapter 7: Battleship Bay

Voxophone #17 – Born in the River

    - Ed Gaines (March the 6th, 1912)

    Born in the River: Transcript

The Prophet way know how his own biography’s going to end, but… I can scarcely fathom how I’m going to start it. I mean, other than the kid’s stuff you get at all the Hall of Heroes, anything prior to his baptism was – and here I quote, hang on – “left on the riverside.” They’ll call me a plagiarist, but I’m gonna spend the first 30 pages regurgitating Scripture.

    Ed Gaines

    Kinetoscope #9 – Battleship Bay

Heading inside the building, still looking for Elizabeth, Booker will make an observation about a poster of an airship. Follow this area around, and on the right side will be a Kinetoscope.

    Voxophone #18 – Heaven

    - Daisy Fitzroy (February the 12th, 1912)

Head to the end of this corridor and inside the small room, there will be a Voxophone located inside a basket in the right hand corner.

    Heaven: Transcript

When I first seen Columbia, that sky was the brightest, bluest sky that ever was. Seemed like… heaven. Then your eyes adjusted to the light, and you say that sea a’ white faces lookin’ hard back at you…

    Daisy Fitzroy

    A Dog’s Loyalty: Transcript

As a boy, I had a dog named Bill. And like all dogs, Bill was a loyal friend, if we had not fed him, bill would have been loyal, if we had struck him, Bill would have been loyal. Only when the colored man can make that claim will he take his place in society.

    Zachary Hale Comstock

Kinetoscope #10 – Solving the Irish Problem

Exiting the washroom, look to your left. In front of a large window, shrouded in a bloom of light, will be a Kinetoscope.

    Take Her Alive: Transcript

This is the moment we trained for. The False Shepherd is here. The day was not exact, but… the Prophet’s sight proved out again. The specimen must be taken alive, if she dies, I suspect they will give us to the bird. And whatever pieces it leaved behind will bear no names… That was cigarette number six. This waiting is insufferable.

    Esther Mailer

    Infusion #6

Exit the room with the Voxophone and continue down the corridor, turn left and quickly take another left into a doorway. Follow this corridor and then take a right. You will be in the room where the ticket officer was on the phone. On the wall opposite the window, under a clock will be an Infusion upgrade.

The Golden Path to Heaven: Transcript

As the months and years turned to memories, so did the men of Congress turn to righteousness. And through the technology of men, the dollars of Washington, the Lord worked his will upon Columbia and raiser her high above the Sodom below.

    Zachary Hale Comstock

    Telescope #4
