While living in England with his mother and Stepfather, John Romero began to produce primitive games for the Apple II that were picked up and published by several magazines at the time. To lend his work a more official tone, the 16 year-old Romero called his company Capitol Ideas Software. From England, he even wrote his biological father on a makshift letterhead with the company name.
