DEEP SILVER ENTERS INTO A RELATIONSHIP WITH ATLUS

Publisher Deep Silver closes a publishing agreement for action-adventure/puzzle game Catherine with ATLUS

Deep Silver today announced the closing of a publishing agreement with publisher ATLUS for Catherine, their new action-adventure/puzzle mix. Under this contract Deep Silver has gained the publishing rights for all PAL territories.

“We are very proud to be able to publish Catherine in all PAL territories as a Deep Silver game”, says Klemens Kundratitz, CEO of Deep Silver. “Catherine is something new, fresh and exciting; unlike anything else in the gaming world – a unique mixture of genres. This agreement proves once again that games published under the Deep Silver label are not ‘more of the same’, ‘run of the mill’ productions.”

“ATLUS is very pleased to collaborate with an experienced, passionate publisher like Deep Silver for the release of Catherine in Europe,” stated Shinichi Suzuki, President and CEO of ATLUS/Index Digital Media, Inc.. “Like us, they are dedicated to releasing interesting, unique entertainment content for their fans. They share our belief that Catherine’s unprecedented exploration of the psychology and horrors of commitment and relationships, its breathtaking visual design, and its frantic action-adventure/puzzle gameplay make for a thought-provoking, entertaining experience that cannot be missed.”

Catherine from Atlus and Deep Silver will be released in PAL territories for multiplatform consoles. Catherine will feature localised text in French, Italian, German and Spanish

Great news.  I can't wait to pick this up.  I wish more games would come out with serious sexual adult themes like this.

I'll just watch a playthrough. Then I can skip all the gameplay.

Even though the puzzle gameplay doesn't look that great, I really want to play it.

On the Invisible Walls podcast they said that Catherine was just a game to try out Atlus' new engine in preperation for a new Persona game. No idea if they had a quote somewhere to back that statement up with, but it sounds kind of likely.

You can't play the American 360 version on a European 360, as far as I know.

You can on the PS3 though.

Huh, a pretty interesting publisher to pick it up. Now I can be all picky and say I'm happy 505 games stayed away from it, time to place a preorder.

Phew, I managed to cancel my pre-order of an import Catherine for PS3 so I can get the 360 one when it's released.

What can I say, I'm a points whore. :P

@CrazyChris: The game was in development for a long time (apparently) and they use Gamebryo as their engine (though maybe they modified it so much you'd be right - which is plausible).

Gotta wonder how long it's going to take to release. Those translations are no doubt going to take there time. Bleh. Anyone know a good site to import American PS3 games?

Bleh, when no more concrete news came about this after a week and a half I just imported the PS3 version instead.

It's a shame Rising Star wasn't the company who picked this up. They've been great at porting over niche titles here in Europe in a somewhat timely manner (At least for Europe) and have always been good with updates.
