Welcome to the Party, Pals
Hey friends! I don't know if you've noticed, but this whole "video games" business is getting crazy again. That's largely because we're three weeks away from the start of the Electronics Entertainment Expo. E3 will once again be the place where announcements are made and fanboy hearts are broken as the real-life announcements so rarely match up with the fake lineups and other goofball rumors that crop up before the start of the show. Either way, it's where we'll all get a look at the games we'll be playing later this year and beyond.
That means there's a lot more to do around here. There are more games to review, there's more news to report on, and so on. As such, we've enlisted a bit of external help, and you'll be seeing some more names around here.
The first name you've probably already noticed. Matt "MattBodega" Kessler has been doing it up real big on the trailer posting front, and we're breaking in our intern on some news, now, too. Actually, I have him working on a review, too, but you'll primarily be seeing his name on news and video stuff. Matt's working with us here at the office, which is great because it means we no longer have to walk up the street to check the mailbox. And Vinny's shoes have never been shinier!
The other name will be popping up shortly, and it's Brad Nicholson. You may remember him from his work on MTV Multiplayer, Destructoid, or TouchArcade. He'll be continuing to do some writing for some of those outlets, but we've also tapped him to handle some additional news coverage. He also claims that he can bench 230 pounds, which sounds like a lot to me. I... don't even have a bench, let alone weights to put on a bench, so he could have said that he benches a million pounds and I'd be equally impressed. Either way, this will probably make the inevitable Brad vs. Brad showdown a bit harsher than I had originally envisioned.
So what does that leave for the five of us living our lives down here in the basement? Well, you may have noticed that we're doing one weekly live broadcast on Thursdays, appropriately titled Thursday Night Throwdown. You can expect to see more live things like that from us here in the basement, along with more reviews and Quick Looks, the eventual return of T.A.N.G., and "wacky fun." I'll let you decide what "wacky fun" means, provided that you don't think it means "a third Endurance Run." The other big news is that we're moving to a bigger basement in the near future, which comes with some exciting new studio space that we'll be sure to use for totally ridiculous live broadcasts and all sorts of other stuff. This means "the guys upstairs" will become "the guys over there." That doesn't quite have the same ring to it, though.
Before most of that goes down, we need to get through E3. We're still making some plans for that, which will involve podcasts and perhaps the occasional live show, in addition to floor videos and write-ups about the future of video games. Hmm. Speaking of which, I should probably finish my write-ups. I've really got no excuse not to. So join me in welcoming these guys to our list of freelance contributors, and I hope you're as excited about the idea of more stuff going up on Giant Bomb as I am. It's called growth, people!

Wait, why isn't Star doing his work?!
Any article with Shaq head is automatically amazing, and I don't think the us users would mind if you continued referring to "them" as "the guys upstairs."
" @adoggz said:well, I know he freelances for GB but i had no clue they were hiring him on full time. I cant wait for the Shaq/Dave endurance run.You have never seen Shaq around the office? He shows up on the wall in a LOT of videos." what, you guys are hiring Shaq? "
Congrats, new guys and existing guys! I look forward to seeing what the new folks have to add to the (apparently growing) GB content.
Wait you guys are bringing Brad Nicholson onto Giant Bomb? Nice
So are the new team members staying on long term? I'd have no problems with seeing Giant Bomb expand
" what, you guys are hiring Shaq? AND A THIRD ENDURANCE RUN!!! you guys are totes spoiling us. "I'm pretty sure you shouldn't hold your breath for another one any time soon.
They need at least 4 months between them, otherwise we'll get a burn out and that won't make anyone happy...apart from the guys who hate endurance runs..or watching brad play..or both.
I'm all for some no name guys handling the boring text stuff if that means there will be more videos featuring jeff, ryan, brad, vinny and hopefully dave
I haven't read a word of the article, but a big ass pic of Shaq is always good news.
[minutes later, after I read the article] But if you guys work in the same space as the "guys upstairs", how can you keep fucking around all day, and pretending to work as soon as someone comes down? That means you have to actually work now. Madness.
