The 5th instalment of the When They Cry series takes place in the post World War III age, A3W (After World War III). Unlike the local happenings of Higurashi and Umineko, Ciconia has a much larger international scale with youths from super-nations from all over the world coming together to form the cast. Gauntlets, a special military device that only people of the youngest generation are able to wield surpasses anything else in regards to military power. Afraid of the destruction WWIII had caused, the world lives in a state of deterrence where the walls of peace are upheld by the youths that can wield gauntlets.
However as unknown actors behind the scene begin to make their moves, the youths have to band together to try and avoid an inevitable seeming fourth World War.
