In honor of Civ 5's announcement, Whats your favorite civilization moment?
Mine is when I started a small babylonian sience based island utopia . (Socialist, of course.) We didnt have any oil, so around 1812, we invaded a costal city that had some. This pissed off 4 other nations that still had medieval tech. But because i was such a small nation, i had to devote my entire military to defending the oil outpost i had fought so hard to capture, They invaded before i could put the oil to use and, with sheer force, took over half my lands. Fortunately, i had enough tech to start buildings nukes and submarines for them, so, I crushed 20 or so tactical nukes, and parked them inside subs off the coast of every major capital city in the game. when things looked bad, i launched the nukes, wiping the largest citys in the world, clean off the map. This made me a lot more enemys and i eventually lost, I could have used the nukes to push back my enemys. But i find the nuclear holocaust option to be alot more fun.
I was playing a game were I was trying to avoid conflict and when a space race victory. So to maintain peace I had a bunch of alliances. Well one faction decided to attack me for no reason. One of my allies then declared war on him. Then one of my enemies allies declared war on my ally, which caused someone to declare war on that guy. By the end of it all everyone was in the conflict on one of two factions. I just sat there thinking, "Holy crap, we just reenacted WWI."
