For reasons of gameplay or limited available resoures, games sometimes tie the players together so that no one player can venture off and all must stick together in a group to advance. This prevents having to load too much of the game world at once and focuses the gameplay, despite the greater number of people controlling the game. However, the tether is also known to cause frustration, as dispute of where to go can prevent movement altogether, since any one character has the opportunity to control the edge of the designated play area for the rest of the players.
