Contact Review
Contact is one of those games that seemed to come out of left field. Its an RPG that revolves around aliens, or what someone thinks is aliens, traveling around a map, solving puzzles, and unlocking all sorts of items.
The graphics don't do anything to really impress, they just get the job done. I do like the fact that changing the character's costume, which sadly can only be done on the boat, does actually change the appearance of the character, as well as the weapon that is currently equipped.
The controls are easy to figure out, and from time to time makes one wish that they game had a bit more complexity to it so that the controls could be utilized a bit more.
The main aim for this game is to recover pieces from all over the world for this scientist/doctor, who by the way has a very wierd cat. You'll gain sticker throughout the game, as well as a boatload of items. The problem with this game ultimately comes from the short main quest. If you are willing to put in some time the game can easily be conquered quickly. The other thing that becomes obvious as the game progresses is that the battle system isn't something you're ever going to write home about, it gets the job done and from time to time makes you feel like there should be a little something else, but it never happens. Another problem is having to trek back to different islands to find items that you might have missed that are a requirement to get through an area, an example is the pilot uniform, I'm not going to tell you where it is, but I'll tell you that its not directly in your path on the island that it can be found on. You'll also find that some of the puzzles get a bit frustrating, especially when you finally break down and look at a walkthru to see how the hell it is done, and the answer is completely rediculous.
Overall this game has depth in wierd places, and lacks it in others. If you are looking for something slightly different try to find this game, otherwise this game is probably not the best choice for you. 7.4 out of 10.
