Overview
Dark Link is a recurring antagonist from The Legend of Zelda franchise, he is a duplicate of Link and will use many of his of his own moves against him in battle such as his bow and sword techniques. Some players believe that Dark Link is the physical embodiment of the evil that was vanquished from Link when he drew the Master Sword. Dark Link can be differentiated from Link by his black tunic and red glowing eyes, some games will depict Dark Link with pure black skin and some with a more grey skin tone. Dark Link made his first appearance in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link in this game he appears as a pure shadow. In some games you will have to fight several Dark Links at once.
Cameo Appearances
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Dark Link appears in Ocarina of Time as a sub-boss in the Water Temple. He is in the room that contains the lone tree and acts as a guardian to the dungeon treasure, the Longshot.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Dark Link appears in the game in a flashback cutscene only and you do not encounter or have to fight him in the game.
Super Smash Bros. Melee
In Melee Dark Link appears in event 18, "Links Adventure" in a clear reference to his original appearance. In this event you must battle a level 9 A.I. playing as Dark Link, this version looks just like Link's shadow in a call back to his first appearance.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Dark Link is a available as an alternate costume for Link in Brawl, the costume is based off Twilight Princess style visuals. There is also a Dark Toon Link costume for Toon Link. Dark Link again appears in event 18, "Dark Link Duel" and instead of using Link's alternate costume Dark Link is fully black in a reference to The Adventure of Link. In co-op event 7, "Battle of the Dark Sides" Link and Samus team up to take on Dark Link and Dark Samus.
