There are two elevators leading to the Chamber of the Princess. The small one is for Ornstein and the large one is for Smough.
My mind exploded!
Dark Souls
Game » consists of 14 releases. Released Sep 22, 2011
A quasi-sequel to From Software's action-RPG Demon's Souls, set in a new universe while retaining most of the basic gameplay and the high level of challenge. It features a less-linear world, a new checkpoint system in the form of bonfires, and the unique Humanity system.
A Shocking Revelation!!!
Yup. The little details in the world really tell the story.
I don't think you appreciate how long I thought it was a weird decision to make that area asymmetrical for no reason. Then I saw a message at the top of the large elevator that said "Fatty" and I realized THERE IS A REASON!
Why doesn't the little guy just use the big guys elevator?
Anor Londo was never known for it's tight book keeping. They kept blowing their budgets on everything, like the Duke's Archives has swiveling stairways, you know how much that cost?! I read it on a ring description..

I like to imagine they built Smough's elevator first, and Ornstein just thought it was too damn spacious. I believe there's a ring that details Ornstein's reverse claustrophobia right?

I never noticed that. Anor Londo is full of little details like that. You have the different sized stairs for giants and humans. All statues of the War God are removed with only an empty space remaining. Jeff Green recently revealed that Ornstein is actually Jewish.

That and a stray twig that details Gwyns extensive porcelain miniature shoe collection.

I 100% believed this until the comment talking about the twig.

Oh Anor Londo... a figure made of bronze with feet made of clay.
Actually a classical quote about Carthage from an ancient chronicler
@spoonman671: After beating the boss i spent at least 10 minutes wondering the very thing and debating which elevator to choose. brilliant!
