    Is there an upgrade that can turn your weapons into poisonous weapons? I've searched around and some say that ascending to raw adds a poisonous effect, but it seems to me it only adds a higher base damage while decreasing stat scaling.

    Try it and you will see. Getting a weapon to +5 is not to expensive if you have to buy the stones, but you should already have a ton.

    There are no upgrades that turn weapons poisonous.
    However there are some weapons that are inherently poisonous already.
    Plus there is a consumable buff that puts poison on your weapons, sold by undead merchant chick in Undead Burg shortcut I believe.
