    Overview

Darwin Project is a free-to-play multiplayer-focused sci-fi third-person survival action game developed and published digitally by Scavengers for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC (via Steam) on January 13, 2020. The XONE and PC versions were originally released as early access titles on March 9, 2018.

Based on the "battle royale" sub-genre, Darwin Project pits ten players in a post-apocalyptic game show located in the Northern Canadian Rockies where inmates fight to the death while trying to survive the cold climate. Like The Culling, each contestant has only access to rudimentary weapons (axes for melee and bow-and-arrows for ranged) and traps. Throughout the match, players must gather resources, craft items, and upgrade their weapons.

The game's main feature, compared to other "battle royale" games, is the "Spectator Experience". One additional player is the "Show Director", an omnipresent spectator who can control aspects of the arena directly (such as talking to players, giving aid to a certain player, or disabling entire zones). In addition, streaming players/directors can allow their viewers to influence the match.
