Planetside is a massively multiplayer online first person shooter developed and published by Sony Online Entertainment released in May 2003. SOE CEO John Smedley announced that Planetside would be going Free to Play later in 2012.

EverQuest Next was to be a complete reimagining of the franchise both in terms of the world of Norrath itself and the lore behind it. EQ Next sought to revolutionize the MMORPG genre with key features including a customizable multiclass system, destructible environments, emergent AI, and permanent world-changing events. After many years in development, it was canceled on March 10, 2016.
In September 2018, Daybreak Games and NantWorks announced a version of EverQuest for mobile devices. Years later, nothing materialized.
Dimensional Ink Games, the creators of DC Universe Online, worked on a MMORPG set in the Marvel universe. The Project was cancelled on May 25th, 2022.
