Hi. I've never played any dead rising before.... neither the first one, nor case zero ( own a ps3 only ).
I've seen what this game has to offer ( video clips on the site ) and it seems fun, but the question is will it remain fun for the entirety of a full length game?
Finally the question to be answered is -
Should I spend $60 on this game?
Dead Rising 2
Game » consists of 18 releases. Released Sep 02, 2010
Dead Rising 2 is a third-person action-adventure survival horror game that takes place five years after the end of the original Dead Rising, moving its zombie apocalypse setting into the glamorous Fortune City.
Dead rising 2 for first timers??
Just don't try and do everything on your first playthrough, spend it messing around and learning the game/map. Unlike most games if you fail the game you can keep going, so feel free to let Katey turn into a zombie and ignore the story. Most people who dislike DR are the ones who try and do everything and get overwhelmed by the clock.
You're going to have to be ready for a shock, I think. It's not a game you can go into thinking you'll beat it straight through. There's a certain process to Dead Rising that almost no other modern game has.
You probably have this expectation that it's a fun, balls-to-the-wall sandbox game where you do nothing but kill zombies. While it is that, it's also something totally different.
I don't think trailers really demonstrate what this game is about. Ideally I think you should go to Youtube and try watching a few episodes of a playthough (yes, there are already some up). As for whether you'll enjoy it nobody can tell you that really. Everyone is different.

You can play Dead Rising 2 without playing the orginal. Any connection between the two games are small and explained by the characters. However, playing the orginal improves your experience with the game due to the references to the orginal.
I also agree with Zidd. You should find some way to play case zero minly since Dead Rising is a love or hate game due to it's controls and just how odd it is.
Fail it as early as possible and get a hang of doing the sidemissions and what item certain survivors are going to want/need (if they want or need something) so youre prepared for when you get to them... also Casino thats Right of the safehouse/mall entrance there is a Bowie Knife on the end of the bar, and Boxing gloves in the sports shop to the left... combine those two items and most of the Psychopaths with fall easily even if youre at relatively low levels.

(Regular, Outbreak and Zombrex) which should I get?" @Zidane_24 said:Dude, I don't think it's that big of a deal. Neku, I would go ahead and buy it anyway. I just finished up Case Zero last night and enjoyed it a lot. I didn't play the first game, but I'm considering picking up 2 now. I'm willing to bet you can enjoy 2 just fine without playing the first. They take place in the same "universe" but since it's a different character, it's not like a direct continuation of a plot arc with a bunch of intertwined character development. I liked the controls a lot, and for a game that's really crazy in so many ways, the story stuff between Chuck and his daughter actually seems quite somber and very well acted.
Outbreak Edition has the best stuff, but is ridiculously expensive at $150. Though there seems to be good things, I can't imagine paying 4 times as much as I did for the game for anything related to that game.
If you're really into collector's Editions, and you really want to have stuff, The Zombrex Edition is $80. Thing is, seems like most the things you get are junk.
There are a ton of different pre-order deals. That site doesn't even detail them all, such as the deal from play.com where you can send in your picture, they will "zombify it", and send you back a custom cover for the game with you as a zombie on it. Whatever the case, if I were you, I would probably opt for preordering the game, getting guaranteed delivery by Tuesday, and getting one of those pre order bonuses.
@NekuSakuraba: Well, I bought my version on the PC, so I obviously got the Regular edition (for $20 less than the console versions) which is okay, cause I never buy collector's editions anyway. So, I am Australian which order deals apply to me?
