Uuuuh. What?
I mean, yeah, I'm really excited to see what this game is but who would pre-order a game where the engine hasn't even been decided on?
This...is rather mental, right? It's not just me?

When you search for it all the other results below are other games announced at E3, half of which seem like they have temporary cover art. Video games are weird.
I pre-ordered Prey 2 right after that E3. They just add everything to their database during the conferences. They correct things later if needed. Its how they roll. They even added that tech demo from the E3 the PS4 was announced. That wizard due tech demo. People were pre-ordering that thinking it was game.
So their are a few benefits from pre-ordering from Amazon.
No money down
Release date delivery
Locked in to lowest price (if the game increases in price you don't pay more, if it decreases you pay the lowest price it was offered at)
Amazon.ca currently had a 20% off preorder promotion for E3
Easy to cancel preorder or return after ordering
I've preordered a few games after E3 and saved me a ton of money especially when I preordered games before the price of new games increased by $20 in Canada

That's just how preordering online works across the board from my experience.
Every game that has ever been given a title and hasn't been officially cancelled are available for pre-order somewhere. This includes the implication of a next title, like there were pre-orders up for "Zelda WiiU" before the WiiU even came out. Pre-order if you want, especially if you're in a country that doesn't require a deposit, but just be ready for about a third of these early pre-orders to never come to the fruition.
i'm not even convinced what we saw was anything at all related to the game itself.
I'm pretty sure we are being trick here.
I'm gonna hold off on pre-ordering until they announce the Limited Edition that comes with a figure of a naked, crying Norman Reedus tbh
I can't really see a reason not not to preorder. Is there even a single reason not to besides taking up 30 seconds of your day?
The game won't come out for four years. You may be dead in four year.
We know nothing about the game and Kojima's name has meant less and less since MGS4 and its disappointing sequels.
In the year 2026: We are still waiting for Half-Life 2 Episode 3, and #FuckKonami is still a running show on the Jim Sterling, Son TV network.
it would be weirder if amazon then turns around and sell the preorder data to the publishers...
Imagine then if that became the norm and publishers would offer budget bumps depending on the number of pre-orders you had?
Imagine then if THAT become the norm, and devs and publishers would start pre-order campaigns with stretch goals depending on the pre-order numbers...and they called it "Crowdpublishing". Where YOU decide how good someone's pitch is, and how much funding they deserve.
Hell, I feel sick already.

... well, time to get a new hobby.
@slag: It's going to be a competitive, hero shooter with CCG elements. Norman Reedus's character will use a grappling hook and shovel as has main weapons.
You know, while I might not be among the people who shit on pre-orders and the whole culture around it (I do dislike retailer specific bonuses), I'm not going to pre-order a game that's likely not going to come out for another 2 to 3 years at the *very* least.
You could say that there's no reason not to and you would technically be right. It would literally take a few seconds, I could get the best price guaranteed on Amazon and if I change my mind, I could just cancel. But honestly, while I love Kojima and his games, I'm not going to contribute another notch to their pre-order numbers when there's nothing out about the game, outside of a weird cinematic made with an engine they're not actually using, because they haven't even picked the one they want to work with yet.
Well now how about this for some hot garbage. You can pre-order the game at EB Games now: https://www.ebgames.ca/PS4/Games/724513/death-stranding
