I thought the demo was surprisingly awesome but does the game seriously not have online co-op, or am I just misreading?
The game does not have any direct co-op. To my knowledge, the closest thing you get to co-op is the option to trade AI pawns with other players. That and the Ur-Dragon boss- but that's asynchronus co-op, not direct co-op. (Infinity Blade 2 has something similar to that now to my knowledge)

And regarding those AI pawns... I've heard mostly bad things about them- which is why I'm not really interested in Dragon's Dogma anymore. :\
Mostly mediocre reviews though I'll still give it a shot. The pawns sound terrible, and poorly implemented fast travel options in a large world is a big no no. Hopefully the large monster fights are as good as they are made out to be as that's the only thing really drawing my interest at this point.

The one thing this game worried me about was a lack of at least a coherent story. Sad to see that will probably be the case. Negative reviews are usually more telling and Capcom has lost all of my faith in the past few years but I know I will pick this up eventually. And when I do it will most likely be a used copy.
I also don't understand the hype about the character creator. Compared to wrestling games (which i know most people don't play) it's still pretty bare bones. To end this on a positive note, I enjoy the sight of hopping onto griffons.

Enjoying people kicking off in the Joystiq comments. Usual stuff. THE REVIEWER IS CLEARLY NOT A GAMER etc.
The only real problem I have with that review is that he says Skyrim's story is better. I REALLY like Skyrim, but the story was it's weakest element (next to bugs...). Unless DD's story is completely batshit stupid, I can't see how it could be any worse than Skyrim.

Wow thats low from Joystiq
Reads like the guy just kept dying and got frustrated, and then all the niggles that other people are overlooking start to grate. Which is fair enough I guess? If only to serve as a warning to players that the same thing might happen to them. Highlights the problems with the reviewing approach though, having to slog through a long RPG for hours just to get it finished for review and getting increasingly pissed off with everything.
In the comments though there's a guy explaining that the reviewer just went the wrong way on the bit he complained about the most. Says it's clearly marked on the map and the pawns even tell you where to go. Don't know how much truth there is to that, obviously, but ... yeah.
@Mesoian:
The story includes every piece of dialog and quest fiction, not the the main "kill the dragon!" story. There's some interesting lore and character stuff in Skyrim. More than I think we will get in Dogma...
Am I the only one that is actually surprised at the positive reception the game is receiving? Every time I've watched something for it, I just kept thinking it looked generic as hell.
I don't know. Oh well. Glad to hear that Capcom has something else to nickel and dime people to death with.
When it gets dark. It gets REAL fucking dark. Even if the forest is empty it is quite stresfull.I've played about five hours so far as a Strider and I am enjoying the hell out of it. Fun combat system and the Pawns are a great addition. Having the sun go down in the forest on you is very stressful.
