Driftin.io is a multiplayer browser racing game, where players compete to get 20 laps around one of the two racetracks, which ultimately ends the round. However, all of the player's progress around the track is erased if they end up crashing their vehicle, and they have to start all over again. Hence, other players are motivated to attack the front-runners, thus breeding intense competition.
There are 11 vehicle classes in the game, including two secret ones that are unlocked under specific conditions. They have widely divergent stats, and some classes also offset weak stats with powerful special abilities. Some classes are devoted to pure racing (default Racer, and the fast, yet extremely fragile Flash and Piercer classes) and others are more suited for offence, like the dedicated rammer Hazard or a slow, but bouncy, hard-to-ram Bully. Buster happens to be the slowest class in the game, but offsets this through intermittently firing cannonballs. Sludger class fires projectiles that deal no damage, but successfully slow the other players. On the contrary, Ambulamps are a slow class that fires healing orbs, relying on the goodwill from the grateful players to make it through the round.
The innate class differences are also amplified by the levelling-up system. Every time a player completes a lap, or crashes another player's vehicle, they get a point that can be spent on raising one of 3-4 stats. Most classes also allow that point to be spent on a repair kit instead, should the player get heavily damaged far from the lap's finish line, where they get automatically repaired to full. Even then, every class has different selection of stats to raise: racing-oriented classes prioritise handling, speed, and nitro amount, (some also allow nitro regeneration), Hazard class can raise its ramming damage, Buster gets to improve its cannon's damage and reload speed, Ambulamp is strongly encouraged to make its healing orbs stronger, etc.
