Pigsy needs to stick to being comic relief
Let me tell you, I loved Enslaved. A game I thought far too many people overlooked and and even those that did decide to play through, I felt, didn't appreciate it as much as I hoped they would. It is a fantastically underrated game that I threw high up on my top games for 2010 list.
Well, you can thank Pigsy's Perfect 10 for killing that enthusiasm for me.
Let me get the good out of the way first. The voice acting, narrative, cut-scenes, and art are all fantastic and live up to the original games superb quality levels.
And if only the gameplay maintained that excellence...
They spend the entire DLC letting you know, and training you to know, that Pigsy is not exactly someone who should engage in close quarters combat. And to it's credit, most of the combat takes place from a distance. That is until the last couple chapters. In particular, the last encounter (or at least what I'm assuming is based on context).
I don't throw controllers. I believe the last time I did this, I was 8 years old and I was playing the NES. In the late 80's. Well, that long no-throw streak has been broken. Not only did I fling that thing, but I proper broke it. That is how rage inducing trying to make character not suited for melee combat deal with a wave of eight 1-2 hit kill-you-dead enemy's has been for me.
If you liked Enslaved, please stay clear for this DLC. It will do nothing but mire those fond memories for you. Watch a walkthrough of it on YouTube if you just want to experience all that is good about that DLC, but dear lord, do not play it. And do not pay money for it and give it any kind of support.
Perhaps I'm being a bit too rough, and maybe in a couple days, after the dull pain of having to shell out $60 for a new 360 controller subsides, maybe I'd give the thing another star or 2, but regardless, I would still urge all to avoid.
