Well, Final Fantasy Fan Fest 2023 was jam-packed with announcements and trailers that got the entire Final Fantasy XIV community buzzing. The most significant of these announcement is that the next expansion will be called Dawntrail and will have a decided tropical theme to it. Here's the trailer they dropped during the fan fest:
Dawntrail will also include two new classes and though the specifics to these classes were not revealed, Yoshi-P did admit that both will be DPS focused with one being one melee and the other a caster. Though, if current patterns hold, the first job reveal will likely happen at London Fanfest (Oct 21) and the next at the third one. The specifics to Dawntrail include bringing new variant dungeons, a new alliance raid, a new eight-player raid, and a new ultimate raid. The 7.0 update will also bring new PVP content to Crystalline Conflict, Frontline, and Rival Wings as well as new skills to all major job classes.
Also important was the surprise announcement that Final Fantasy XIV is finally coming to Xbox platforms. Previously, the game was a console exclusive to the PlayStation ecosystem, though obviously also available on PC. The Xbox release will not discriminate between the Series S and X, and will open beta testing in Spring of 2024.
Finally, the game's free trial is being upgraded to include include Stormblood and the Golden Saucer is going to have a crossover event/minigame themed to Fall Guys.
Obviously, this isn't everything that was announced during the event, and if you want to share things I missed, feel free to drop a comment. Nonetheless, who is everyone feeling about returning to the world of Final fantasy XIV but with a tropical twist? Also, what do you think the two new jobs will be?
