Dan's Diner

It's been a while since I blogged about… well, anything, really. But I'm doing so on this occasion due to Dan Ryckert following up on the potential I knew he had.

I've loved Dan's antics since Game Informer. He was always the best thing about that site (although I do so love me some Tim Turi) so the news of his hire at Giant Bomb was just two of my favourite things being smooshed into a sexy, crazy gestalt. And then I realised a lot of the stuff out of his mouth was potentially a new shirt design waiting to happen.

While Ryan was always my muse and actually-very-involved partner in crime on the shirt thing – and as such is irre-fucking-placeable – Dan promised to be a new well nay gushing oil rig of dumb shit that would rekindle something in my brain. (I'm probably mixing my metaphors with the oil rig/rekindling thing, but then I realised the two ideas combined cause an oil rig fire, and that imagery kinda seems perfect when we're talking about Dan.)

Well, here's the first thing that's spawned from that promise. It's something that's been kicking about in my head since he first made mention of it, but I've only recently had time to implement it. I think it speaks for itself.

Side note: I still totally use Salty Bet. No, I'm not kidding.

Like I said before on Twitter (I hope, I might've forgotten), this is some excellent work, my man.

This looks very similar to the "bomb with tongue out" image they used for the itunes Bombcast logo. I assume you made that, as well? Very nice.

@development: No, I didn't make that art, but it was only after I made it that the same thing occurred to me! Good ol' unconscious inspiration, no doubt.

Heh you should subscribe to his youtube channel. Every now and again something incredibly dumb appears on it.

Not only do I love your art, I take it to another level by wearing one of the shirts you designed. It's a never ending loop of Buzz art.

Methinks Dan is maybe playing it up. As a dumb lazy american, his cooking has a lot of prepwork. Making and Closing an omelet is pretty difficult (to me, a lazy dumb american) which is how I always end up with scrambled eggs. The real tip off though is that he's willing to do multi stage cooking. Oven an ingredient and then use the stove after? Also prepared green onions? I'M ON TO YOU @danryckert and your culinary misdirects !

Its a beautiful design as always Buzz, Dan should wear it in his new cooking series.

I almost bought a Magic Bullet at Walmart. Former WWE star Chyna loves making smoothies in her blender and the Magic Bullet looked like a great tool to use in the kitchen. I'm not quite sure why, but a juicer sounds like a must have item.
