GOTY Spoiler Playlist! Get prepared.

UPDATED WITH REAL LISTS. Shall update each day. I know Jeff looks down on spoiler fearing folk with scorn and hatred, but I'm a kinder soul, and so here's a handy list of games that are talked about in depth.

DAY ONE

Games talked about in focused detail in the day one podcast:

Sorry for any of you more spoiler conscious folk, I didn't timestamp it (But the majority of the spoilers come in the "Best Moment" category, and lots of Far Cry 3 stuff in "Best Character," and if I missed anything, let me know. I probably did. Post in the thread with any details and I'll update as we go through the week!

I'm curious. Exactly why do you think Resident Evil 6 would come up? Do you think there will be a Biggest Disappointment award?

I was going to say Trials: Evolution, but there's nothing to be spoiled there.

Dust won't be there. That new ninja game might. Dear Ester won't be. Just take Amalur and Syndicate off the list :P. I doubt FF13 will be there, and lol RE6.

Diablo III might get discussed, but the story is a non-component in that game.

Yeah, I'd say there's a large chance they'll talk about their dissatisfactions with the story of RE6. And Mark of the Ninja, going on the list!

@Mcfart: FF13-2's a low one, but at the time Brad had specific grievances with the way the story was passed out through DLC, so there's a minor chance they'll go into that - and I totally think someone will bring up Dust and perhaps talk about story specifics. I remember Jeff had some disappointments with the end of Syndicate, but you're right, it's super low they'll find a need to actually talk about them. These aren't things that'll win awards, just things that may be talked about and casually spoiled. But yeah, the liklihood of some of these is super low. I'mma take off Syndicate and Amalur.

I think we can safely cross RE6 off the Giant Bomb GOTY possibilities.

Syndicate will make an appearance as Jeff mentioned earlier it was one of the best games he had played so far this year.

Any Wii U games, because it will be hilarious if they do a Game of the Year for a console that is only out for a month and a half.

It goddamn better show up somewhere, I just beat it yesterday and that game is pretty great! Amusingly enough, the next game I'm going to beat is Binary Domain!

I don't Final Fantasy will even cross their minds during that podcast, it certainly won't cross mine. Black Ops 2? Treyarch will probably pull some wacky hi-jinks that Jeff will have something to say about.

Vinny did play Binary Domain and said that everyone else needs to play it for GOTY, but that was a while ago and I doubt anyone else will play it now.

Im picking Far Cry 3 to be the dark horse this year like SR3 last year. I heard its a big ass open world, RPG elements, Gun upgrades, hunting missions and fantastic characters. But AC3 could be bannanas as well.

Dear Esther? Really? I don't remember any of them having strong feelings about that game.

I'd say Torchlight 2, but it's not like the story is what matters in that game. Though it's not even out yet, I get the feeling Hotline Miami will get some discussion.

Keep in mind the GOTY podcasts are not only for determining which game gets the actual game of the year title; there are many other awards too. Resident Evil 6 for example seems quite liable to "win" a "most dissapointing"-type award, and I can see similar niche trophies for those other games as well.

You guys are just reminding me of all the awesome releases this year which will not even be mentioned by the Giant Bomb crew, let alone take part in the GOTY deliberations.

Trust me when I say you have nothing to worry about spoiler wise with FF13-2 or FoC. Neither of those games will end up getting in-depth re-discussion for their goty nominations as they were both regarded as "good" but not "great" by the guys. Jeff's the big Transformers fan and just like War for Cyb he was incredibly down on FoC due to his own very biased very personal tastes and opinions. I'll be surprised if either of them end up on more than one of their top 10 lists if at all.

Patrick loved it big time, I feel he may bring it up. It's the sort of game he might talk about in an innovation/story category, so on the list it went as a possibility.

Anyone think that The Darkness 2 will get some discussion during GOTY (not necessarily for GOTY)? I found my time with the game to be really enjoyable, and I remember that Ryan (and Vinny?) seemed to really like it as well.

Sleeping dogs is my dark horse game. :) Both Patrick and vinny loved it so it'll probably win something.

I doubt I Am Alive will be mentioned other than in passing for Disappointment of the Year.

I find this thread weird to just assume what they will have on their list I mean would anyone have guessed Catherine to as high up on Patrick's list as it was last year? Just saying the actual lists they bring to the table are going to be interesting this year.

Why? It's a console that comes out this year with plenty of games to play on it. That any Wii U category would be based on a month and a half of releases is beside the point. And the Durango and Orbis will get the same treatment next year.

Yup, this was the only game I missed from the list. I think it will come in discussion.

They need to get Alex on the GOTY stuff. He can atleast fight for games like Journey or Sound shapes, the latter of which was barely even discussed on the bombcast, despite getting 5 stars.

Why the fuck Sleeping Dogs and Borderlands 2 are not in that list? Fix it immediately!

If Dear Esther is on anyone's GOTY list I'ma slap the shit out of them. I enjoy me some artsy fartsy games and obtuse storytelling from time to time, but Dear Esther failed to evoke any kind of emotion other than bewilderment at people's love for it.

Might make a top 10 list, had a damn good time with it. Should be noted that they won't spoil every game. They actually talked about Silent Hill Wii off the air.

It was my GOTY for the early part of the year. In terms of gameplay and writing, I thought that the game was great.

Transformers, I Am Alive, Spec Ops, Final Fantasy and Sine Mora should not be on this list. Borderlands 2 should be.

NFL Blitz

Don't forget Rise of the Triad, assuming it meets the earlier part of its launch window. It may not look like much when you wipe off the nostalgia, but it has a chance at being a sleeper hit.

Fuck me Binary Domain was the best thing to come out of Japan since Vanquish (and equally enjoyable as a shooter).

Plus the PC version looks GORGEOUS.

I really can't understand the mediocre reviews it got, the shooting is super satisfying and the story charming and with a wonderfully keen eye vis a vis modern Japanese subculture that made it all the more enjoyable for anyone who's lived there before like I have

And I generally hate modern Japanese game, it totally caught me by surprise.

I was just coming in here to make sure Hitman was on that list! Given how much Patrick and Ryan loved Blood Money, it think its a sure fire contender should it live up to expectations.

But I'm not certain, maybe they will. I just wouldn't bank on those being there.

Hey! I also just beat Sleeping Dogs recently, and I do agree! Though, unfortunately, the game gets marks against it for strongly insisting that you do the bloody "drug bust" missions.

Not about games that deserve awards, just games that may have their endings/plot points discussed even just in passing - I think there's a specific moment in Transformers that Jeff likes to mention that could possibly be talked about at some point in the hours - but you're right, as is @believer258: there's very small chance that some of these will be mentioned. That said, we have no idea what the awards will be, so that's why the list is so broad - the ending of I Am Alive could be discussed, it could not. It's unlikely it will, but there's a chance, for example.

Journey is gonna win GOTY calling it.
