It's cream, just like melted ice is water.

It's not cake. Icecream on the cake is just an accessory.

I like the "cream" idea, that seems to make the most sense.

If its like a Carvel cake thats really just all ice cream then i would say no,  but there are some ice cream cakes that have a lot of cake and if the ice cream melted then its still cake just not Ice cream cake.

It's as much cake as water is "melted ice."

If there were any other way to describe it other than calling it melted cake we would use that instead, since it really isn't cake anymore.  Baked Alaska's might be an exception, since there is a cake structure surrounding the ice cream portion.  Then again, I wouldn't really call that an Ice Cream Cake as much as I would call it "Cake with Ice Cream filling."

Now that I think about it, Ice cream cake isn't really even cake itself since it's not baked.  Unless we're defining it as a "cake" as in a "cake of solids."

I think it would be the same, just another phase. Too bad there really isn't ice cream cake gas or plasma, that'd be yummy.

Id have to go with Brad and say a cake must be able to support its own weight.

I was actually having this argument with my little brother about 2 weeks ago.

I say no, but still delicious.

I have two points, one of which sets up the other;

  1. I'm from the UK
  2. What is ice-cream cake?

Of course it's still cake. The whole shape is no longer there as an argument fails miserably. If I take regular cake and crumble it up in my hands so it has no shape, it's still cake. It may not have the same shape but the ice cream and cake parts of the ice cream cake are still there, therefore, ice cream cake.

I wouldn't necessarily call an ice cream cake in solid form a cake in the first place, but I would certainly still call a melted ice cream cake an ice cream cake.

Melted ice cream cake is just that, there is no definable word for such a thing. Just as a crushed can is a simply that or a broken window wouldn't be called anything else. The addition of 'melted' to the name clearly indicates the new state of the object.

I don't think it's really cake at that point, but for lack of a better word it is still to be called "cake"
