The Karate Kid,
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix
So I've been watching those
trailers that got released for SF2THDR (wow crazy acronym), and those trailers consisted of a song by Joe Esposito called You're the Best. A great song from from Karate Kid, which was an awesome movie itself, but anyways this song just gets me freaking pumped up. After hearing it again after it's been so long, and watching fight scenes from one of my favorite fighting games of all time, I've decided that I'm going to listen to this song whenever I play this game now.
Here's a video of the full song:
Try to be best
‘Cause you’re only a man
And a man’s gotta learn to take it
Try to believe
Though the going gets rough
That you gotta hang tough to make it
History repeats itself
Try and you’ll succeed
Never doubt that you’re the one
And you can have your dreams!
You’re the best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down
You’re the Best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down
You’re the Best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you dow-ow-ow-ow-own
Fight ‘til the end
Cause your life will depend
On the strength that you have inside you
Ah you gotta be proud
starin’ out in the cloud
When the odds in the game defy you
Try your best to win them all
and one day time will tell
when you’re the one that’s standing there
you’ll reach the final bell!
You’re the best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down
You’re the Best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down
You’re the Best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you dow-ow-ow-ho-how-ho-own
You’re the best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down
You’re the Best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down
You’re the Best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you dow-ow-ow-ow-own
Fight ‘til you drop
never stop
can’t give up
Til you reach the top (FIGHT!)
you’re the best in town (FIGHT!)
Listen to that sound
A little bit of all you got
Can never bring you down
You’re the best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down
You’re the Best!
Around!

LittleBigPlanet
I've been wanting to play Little Big Planet for a while, but there's been a crap load of games coming out and my gamefly queue is full right now with Gears 2 and I'm waiting for Left4Dead. So I don't really want to rent it now, plus it's on low availability. I can wait till after Left4Dead or Last Remnant, the availability of LBP may go up after those last 2 games that I'm waiting for this fall. But problem is, LBP is looking like loads of fun and I really want to play it now for pretty much being a filler while I wait for Gears 2 and L4D. But damnit games cost a lot, so I guess I want to know is ...for the people who've played this already... how long do you think I'll be enjoying this game? How long have you been enjoying it?

Oneechanbara
what a hottie
Onechanbara, a movie adaptation of the popular Japanese game published by D3. This is a pretty short movie running approximately 80 minutes. The plot is simple, it's about a girl, in a bikini, with a cowboy hat, killing zombies with a katana as she is looking to for revenge against her sister Saki. And right there, the plot already differs from the actual game. I'll have to admit, I have not played any of the Onechanbara games yet, but I do want to and plan to when it arrives in the US. But I have tried to keep up with the series as much as I could. And Saki in the movie, is the antagonist instead of being by Aya's side, kicking zombie asses with Aya. With the movie being so short, plot development goes by quick. They'll show short flashblacks that will give you the gist of everything right there. Not that there is much plot to develop, it does a decent job at it. But it does jump into the action pretty fast, which is great because this movie's plot isn't exactly its strongest point.
Aya vs Saki
The action scenes were choreographed very well, especially for a low budget movie. And when I think of low budget video game movies, I think of Uwe Boll and his atrocious movie called BloodRayne. The action scenes in Onechanbara far surpass the lackluster fighting in BloodRayne, where everyone looked like they were just winging their moves as they go along. Eri Otoguro (Aya), looked like she knew exactly what she was doing in those action scenes. The CGI in the film were well done on a low budget. They also did a great job in having many of Aya's signature moves in the movie, including my personal favorite where she charges up and does a powerful spinning slash.
live action vs video game
The casting for the movie was done pretty well, Eri Otoguro, who plays Aya, looks similar to her video game counter part. Very similar if you think about all the other video game movies that were made and how well their actors looked like the actual characters. The two girls who played Reiko (Manami Hashimoto) and Saki (Chise Nakamura, she's not under-aged, phew), although did not look similar to their video game counter parts, at least looked hot. The bikini that Aya wears, looks just like the video game version, which is great. However, I was disappointed that she mainly wore a poncho throughout the movie, covering up her goodies. Her tattoo looked like it was a rub on, which kind of annoyed me a bit while watching the movie. But anyways, Saki's school girl outfit and Reiko's tight leather biker gear looked great and was pretty similar to their video game counter parts.
Overall, it's a mildly enjoyable movie and I can guarantee you won't feel like you wasted your time as if you were watching a Uwe Boll movie. On one last note, this movie proves that any movie that deals with powering up energy, should be made in Japan onry prz, I'M LOOKING AT YOU DRAGONBALL Z LIVE ACTION MOVIE.

Fable II

So I've been playing a couple JRPGs (Infinite Undiscovery and Tales of Vesperia) this past month waiting for Spider-Man Web of Shadows and Fallout 3. I wasn't really all that excited for Fable 2, since I never played the first one. I just never got around to it. I was planning on playing it before Fable 2 got released, but my friend lost his copy so I couldn't. So anyways, I didn't return my games to gamefly early enough so when they started shipping out Spider-Man WoS, I couldn't get a copy because there were probably other people waiting longer then me. So I get screwed there, and I couldn't rent Fable because I was waiting for Spidey. And so after seeing how much everyone's having fun with Fable 2 on the GB forums, I started to really want to play it. And low and behold, I ran out and got the game yesterday. I'm kind of disappointed in that you can't customize the face, as I was expecting to (maybe I'm just not there yet?). But the game is fun. I also like the concept of user orbs, how you can see orbs of other players. Although it still doesn't give you the feel that MMOs give when you're chilling in the city with other players, it at least makes the world more lively and less lonley. The co-op sounds like a really huge let down though. Still been having a blast after playing for only about 3-4 hours.
Oh and I'll write a review for the Onechanbara movie in my next blog.

UPDATE:
I watched it. I'll post up a review about it later when I'm bored. But here's a quick low down on what I thought. Aya, Reiko, and Saki looked bomb in the movie. Aya didn't fight in her bikini enough, but enough to get a lot of really good body shots of Aya while she fights. And it's waaaaaay better then anything Uwe Boll will ever make.Taking a break from studying midterms right now. Was just randomly browsing about the Onechanbara series, I've been wanting to play this game for a while... it looks rather... interesting. They say it's Devil May Cry with a girl in a bikini with a cowboy hat killing zombies with a katana or two. And to my surprise, there's actually one coming out in the US for the 360 (I already knew about the Wii one, but I don't have a Wii anymore). It's also getting released for pretty cheap, as far as
gamestop says anyways. So that's awesome news for me, since I wasn't expecting it to get released here. Anyways, on to the main point. I looked deeper into the series, and eventually found out there was a freaking movie that was just released this summer. I checked out the
trailer, it doesn't look super bad. I've got to find a way to check this movie out.
You have not written any reviews yet.
