Today is Canada day, which celebrates the joining of the British North American colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and the Province of Canada into the commonwealth kingdom of Canada, later to become the constitutional monarchy we know and love today.
In my city of Halifax there's lots of historical celebrations going on at the Citadel and Pier 21 with a huge fireworks display across the water in Dartmouth. I'll probably go see the fireworks this evening. How are you going to spend the nation's holiday?
