On this here page, the header info reads "First released on Feb 21, 2006" even though the sidebar shows that the Japanese version of the game released at the end of June the previous year.

Does "First released" always refer to the NA release or is it displaying the date incorrectly?

this is leftover data from the old site where it USED TO say "first US release" (which was dumb). now all pages still have those old dates if nobody updated them since it doesn't automatically pull the first actual date from the release table (if there even is one).

how it should look: first release means first release ever, no matter what country. if you see a page that has a date that is not the first actual release, just change it.

that's also why a lot of japan-only games have no dates associated with them, since they never had a US release, nobody entered one.

It would be nicer if we didn't have to enter the date on the game at all any more, since most parts of the site pull the date from the releases anyway.
