I like this game so far, but the flash-ass chibi characters are a disappointment. If they were that way on the map, but then it changed to something more like FF Brave Exvius quality that would be been more appealing. Overall a nice first impression though. :)

@roninenix: Right now my 2* scrub team is doing fine, I can do on level content and there is plenty to do. You are right though, I'm going to run out of skills to buy fairly soon. I'm sitting 40 something orbs, we'll see how long I can hold out.

How grindy is the gacha system in this?

I'm no expert, but in terms of getting characters it seems fairly generous. Right now there are two groupings you can roll through, and they each have four featured 5* heroes that have an increased drop chance. So there are eight 5* heroes currently with a boosted rate of 6%. Regular 5* heroes have a 3% chance which is still not terrible compared to some other games. Each time you get a hero that isn't 5* the drop chance of a 5* increases slightly as well, so you're guaranteed to get one eventually. The game tells you how many you'd have to roll to get to 100% chance.

Who is featured will likely rotate every now and then which will be nice as well. It's pretty easy to get orbs until you beat the story, and I believe they plan on adding new chapters as they go which means more orbs. You get 1 orb per map you finish, and there are 5 maps per chapter from what I have seen so far. You also are given a chunk of free orbs for linking your account, and you get 2 orbs just for logging in every day.

What seems like it will be the grindiest is the feathers. You use feathers along with another item to upgrade your hero to the next star level. So if you have a 4* you really like but want to make them a 5* you need a shit ton of feathers. Its understandable since it makes them much stronger and dodges the need to gamble for a 5* copy. Be prepared to likely only be able to improve one hero every month or two. This might improve if they do events and depending on how the arena system plays out. Right now it seems like it will be slow.

You also unfortunately can only do 3 arena battles per day which is what the ranking system is based on. If you want to do more you have to use an item which refreshes your ability to do so for the day. It does seem like you are given one of this item every weekend (I got one today for logging in on the weekend), and there are other ways to buy it with mynintendo reward points or money.

If you just want to play and have fun the grind doesn't seem bad at all. There's plenty to do with whatever heroes you might have. If you want to be hardcore grinding lunatic maps in order to be the strongest in arena then expect tedium.

@jaycrockett:That's good that you can clear the content so far, it just becomes really tough in Lunatic mode. Just one mistake and my 5/4* units die in 1 hit. Also wish I could be like you and keep those gems. I always get the urge to spend them whenever I have 20+. Just my gambling addiction kicking in I guess.

@slag: Gacha doesn't seem so bad in this game, mind you I've only tried two other gacha games and one of them is really bad. It costs 5gems to do a single summon, but if you were to do a 5x group summon, you'll only need to use 20 gems, saving you a total of 5 . I also saw somewhere that each time you do a 5x group summon and you do not get a 5* unit, the chances of your next summon being a 5* unit increases by 0.1%. Pretty low percentage increase, but better than nothing.

@mezza:Thanks so much for the detailed feedback man. That sounds really good to me. Lord knows I don't need another mobile game in my life, but Fire Emblem is just too hard to pass up. I just don't want to get into a really exploitative one. My experience with a lot of these is that they start out fair, but eventually you hit a pay2win wall :(

@roninenix: Aw geez lunatic mode? I'm still on normal mode, and it's starting to get tougher. We'll see how long my resolve to not use orbs can hold out.

I don't intend to spend any money on this game in its current state but I still stopped rolling once I was able to get my second 5* (Camilla to add to the Lucina I got from my first roll) and then started putting my orbs towards the castle upgrades. I only need the last one which costs 10 orbs now. I figured that with the upgrade costs from 4* to 5* being as steep as they are, I don't really need to potentially be adding more work and decided the exp boost would be more useful in training up my current heroes for arena and training map farming.

I have the worst RNG luck. My second roll got 4 3* and 1 4*. Took hours of rerolls for the first one and only got 1 5* Lyn. Also got a mage that barely got to level its atk. Goddamit.
