I haven't played a Monster Hunter game before but wanted to get into it on PC. If I were to buy the base game and expansion, will the expansion fast track me to the expansion content, thus skipping over the base game content? Would I be better off just buying the base game for now if I wanted to play through all of the content in order?

The only thing that can fast track you are a set of weapons and armor that were added to make the base game much easier so that someone can rush to iceborne if they want.

If you ignore that particular gear then you'll get the regular experience. It's also worth noting that gear is available without the expansion, so buying iceborne now or later doesn't make a difference. You can get iceborne bundled with the base game I think, so might as well go with the better dollar value.

@mezza: Great, thanks so much for the thorough answer. I have the next two weeks off work and wanted to pick something new up, hopefully I can find a good deal on that bundle.
