I'm playing Dark Souls right now and find that I need to take a break with a calm, soothing, easy game. Unfortunately, the other games I'm playing right now are third person shooters (Gears of War 3, Uncharted 3 multiplayer). Does anyone have any suggestions for a calm game for 360 or PS3?

I find just working my way through a fairly easy RPG or puzzle game and listening to music or a podcast pretty calming. Osmos is a fairly calming game too.

LittleBigPlanet 2 level create mode? Haha, I'm not really sure. I don't think engaging games are very soothing, and those that aren't engaging usually get boring for me. Games usually try to challenge you in some way to stay fun, so it's kind of a tough call. Flow and Flower and fine choices, but they get so boring after a while (my opinion of course). Good luck!

EDIT: Oh yeah, like the person above me said, any turn-based RPG can be pretty mellow during grinding and stuff.

I find Lumines can be good that way. Flower absolutely fits the bill.

I tried the game they did a QL of recently, Eufloria. It's quite nice and calming.

The ICO / SOTC Collection

Journey

Burnout paradise

King's bounty

Any action game where you can easily get in "the zone" can be a great stress reliever

The problem with Lumines is that all of a sudden four hours have passed and you're trapped in zombie-block-matching mode.

I second Eufloria, or maybe Flower if you didn't played it already.

Actually if you're going to get eufloria I suggest getting it on steam instead of the PS3 version, playing it with a mouse is far better than with a controller.

I usually unwind after Gears 3 or stuff with some Banjo Tooie on XBLA.
That or Red Dead Redemption online, private match.
Just riding round the frontier, doing some shoot outs, collecting herbs and hunting small game.

I play Fable 2 in these cases, I guess fable 3 is the same. Running around, finding stuff, talking to people, stoping time (level 1 then 3) and them killing everything with a level 5 lightning, and buying some houses.

No way man, that shit is stressful. Goddamn sours creeping round my garden...

I find Pac-Man CE: DX or Space Marine to be, if not strictly calm, then calming in the sense that they induce a sort of thoughtless trance state.

I don't know if I would call it easy, but Sim City 4 is a fantastic city building game that isn't very stressful. Just watch out as it's very easy to get sucked in for hours at a time. The in-game music tracks aren't bad, but I prefer to put my own ambient tracks on and just relax.
